1. How was Gregory's run defense exposed in the playoffs?
2. And the premise of this comment is absurd. How hard is it to comprehend that the OP is asking, given a full 16 games next season, who would be the better player?

Don't judge any player based on the Rams game. The Cowboys scheme and coaches were the primary problem with the Cowboys run defense in that game.
Vander Esch struggled and Lee played more of the snaps than VE; however, we know VE is a terrific player and terrific run defender.
Gregory is a quality run defender.
It is very difficult for RBs and QBs to run outside when Gregory has outside contain responsibilities.
The Cowboys often don't have the RDE with outside contain responsibility. Marinelli likes to have a LB pick up outside contain on that side in order to allow the RDE to crash down inside. Nonetheless when Gregory does have outside contain he is terrific in task.
Marinelli didn't want to wear Gregory down by playing him on base downs too often; however, Marinelli emphatically stated that Gregory is good when he does play base and good against the run despite having a lean build.
Obviously a big DE that is really more of a DT like Crawford is going to be the best option to play most of the snaps in situations where they expect a run.
DWare was terrific against the run but Parcells said playing Ware at DE on base downs in a 4-man DL would wear him down.
The guy that did this analysis is terrific at analyzing players and using video to support his conclusions.
