Yes, that plus it was an illegal formation anyway. The bad tripping call makes the whole 2 point conversion irrelevant.

It will never happen. Can you imagine if this actually happens. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...p&cvid=761b99dd6a944404a8e28ad40e0c9ffb&ei=19
With the refs missing the tripping call on Hutchinson and calling it on Hendershot, it's even.I mean, it was a sh¡tty way to win the game I can't lie, so it is understandable from the rest of the leagues perspective. Oh well.
And you've got the problem of the official saying 70 is eligible but not 68, which affects the defense's ability to know who to cover. Overturning that would say that the officials making a mistake to hurt the Lions is worse than the officials making a mistake to hurt the Cowboys. It creates a disadvantage either way.You can’t do it.
Even if the lions get it. Cowboys had 23 seconds, 2 timeouts and a kicker with a booming leg who hasn’t missed a FG yet.
The game wasn’t over even if the lions did get the 2 points.
All bs. Wont happen because it was not the last play and dallas gets the ball back with small chance of winning and there is indisputable proof 70 reported and brad allen pointed and acknowledged the reporting and thusly told dallas. There is no error here regardless. Can you imagine if this actually happens. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...p&cvid=761b99dd6a944404a8e28ad40e0c9ffb&ei=19
I was kind hoping he would have had a chance to win it at 70 yards. This would be a great chance for Aubrey to go for a 70 yd FG.
There were two defenders on 68.And you've got the problem of the official saying 70 is eligible but not 68, which affects the defense's ability to know who to cover. Agreed, and this was not a "trick" play. This was a failed effort to manipulate the administrative process of declaring eligibility. It was a stupid mistake by Detroit to continue with the play. It is 100% on them.
We were told 70 was eligible, so you have to account for him. The fact that 70 didn't go out and 68 did means that we had to react to that, but it doesn't mean we were set for it. By announcing the wrong number, the ref created an advantage for Detroit. There were two defenders on 68.
An OT had to catch the football. With 2 Dallas defenders covering him.We were told 70 was eligible, so you have to account for him. The fact that 70 didn't go out and 68 did means that we had to react to that, but it doesn't mean we were set for it. By announcing the wrong number, the ref created an advantage for Detroit.
Lions need to lick their wounds and get over it. Or they can take it into week into the playoffs and get beat by the Rams.this...I'm really over the cryin lions
Why would we assume the Ref's got it wrong? My guess is Goodell would defend his Ref's 1st. There is no proof the Ref made a mistake. Players make mistakes. Coaches make mistakes. Ref's make mistake. It is part of the game. Ref's have made mistakes all year long. No way in hell Goodell sets a precedent overturning games after they have been finalized. How can he? Let's assume the refs did make a mistake and get the number of the eligible player wrong. They announced it to Dallas and Dallas played the play as if 70 was eligible and 68 was not. To overturn the play would penalize the Cowboys for the refs mistake. Plus, there was time left on the clock after the 2 point conversion. Dallas would be deprived of an opportunity to run back the kick. Or get a long PI call or hit a big play to get them in FG range.
I have a very low opinion of Goodell, but I don't think he would take such a drastic action on this play. It is wishful thinking by Lions fans.
That's means it would restart from the tripping call so Dallas ball. It's in the article, he can reschedule and restart the game or continue the game from the point of the questionable outcome.
If a commissioner-led investigation into official Brad Allen’s call reveals it was “extraordinarily unfair or outside the accepted tactics” and has “a major effect on the result of the game,” Roger Goodell can take action that includes “the reversal of a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the extraordinary act occurred.”
