I'm telling you, the guy is not right mentally. Unless he comes crawling back to Dallas looking to sign on the cheap for one year, I wouldn't even consider bringing him back.

I'd love to get him back with a cheap, incentive laden deal. But nothing long term.

Excellent point, but here's my take: no team is going to touch Ro-Mac now. The Cowboys can approach free agency and the draft as if McClain won't be around; then if they have to re-sign him, I have a feeling he'll still be available in May or June for the OTA's.

He kept leaving games with dehydration, the shakes, etc.

Gotta be pretty hooked on drugs to keep doing it even when your third shot at a career is at stake.

Vet minimum or bye.

This guy's career won't end well, I'm afraid. He's got massive issues.

It is still obviously relevant though. This means whatever drug he's hooked on that caused him two previous failures he needs so much that he would risk 1/4th of his salary going out the door for it.

He's burning trees in his spare time. Dumb on his part, but the "hippie lettuce" can be addictive.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I'd say the better option in that scenario is to keep Lee at MLB.

Or look for a new MLB as a priority.

I do think Lee would be outstanding in a Lance Briggs role with his skills in diagnosis.

The importance of the LBers in this scheme are 1. MLB (range) 2. ROLB (sideline to sideline) 3. LOLB (do enough to get by).

You can look all the way back to the Dungy defenses to see that.

Carter was the best player on defense. The only time he struggled was when he had a couple nagging injuries in the middle part of the yr. But he started great, the had int's big tackles and even blocked a punt. Towards the end of the yr, he was getting int's teams could run a screen to his side, and he was all over the field. Carter was extremely important to this defense. You can tout on whats more important to this defense all you want. But you cant ignore who was important to this defense. It was McClain because hitchens replaced him just fine. It was Durant because again hitchens replaced him just fine. Dallas doesnt have a player right now that can do what Carter did in 2014. But they do have 3 guys who can do what Rolando did,

So
I ripped the Cowboys for trading for him. It turns out they were right, clearly. But I think it's time we turn the page on this headcase and just be thankful we got the production out of him that we did.

Sean Lee is back, admittedly with a return ticket, and we've got FA and the draft for other options.

Why would you want to turn the page on him so soon? So what if he smoked weed or took something which violated the policy. Heck it could have been some vitamin that he took accidentally. Maybe we should give up on players like Scandrick as well.

Seattle is smarting then us. Despite their entire team getting caught red-handed with PEDs, they didn't try to get rid of them. It only won them the Super Bowl because of it.

Everyone wants Sean Lee back and so do I. However, that guy is like a glass cannon and I wouldn't put my eggs all into the Sean Lee basket just yet.

Then whats the point? Why not just insert Hitchens? Why stunt the growth of a young player for a player you arent willing to give a long term contract to? This kind of thinking makes zero sense to me.

At this stage it means a player who works hard, is passionate about football, well, I mean it depends. Sometimes when he is not quitting or retiring or smoking dope, if he feels bad after killing a teammate. Nevermind, it just means if I like them as a person or not.

Because he'd be cheap and he can play. It's really that simple. Low risk, low cost, and we get a good player out of it. And if Hitchens is better than him then I'd expect Hitchens to play, but I'd as soon leave that up to the coaching staff. I'd rather give them as many options as possible to get the best players on the field next year.

They let Browner go last year after his PED suspension and it probably cost them the Super Bowl. You take him away from NE and put him back on SEA and the game swings back to SEA.

In fact of the 5 guys suspended for PEDs only Bruce Irvin is still on the team. The other 3 besides Browner and Irvin were just role players.

It is a guy who loves to play football. The game and the team are very important to him. He does what the coaches tell him to do and he works as hard as anyone on the team. Always trying to improve and wants to win more than anything.

Orlando Scandrick is a RKG. He got popped for a substance, but that doesn't mean he isn't a RKG. It isn't about being a boy scout. It is about football, how important it is to you, how important the team and your team mates are to you.

Smoking some weed or taking a molly like Scandrick doesn't keep you from being a RKG.

I'm not saying McClain is a RKG. Maybe he isn't. But this incident isn't going to be what keeps Garrett from thinking that his is a RKG.

RKG only applies to normal players. Players with exceptional talent gets a pass. All organizations do that.

Depends on the responsibilities of the Mike. Not sure what we run when we're in base 4-3 as far as responsibilities for each. Over half the time we are in a version of the nickel. Carter has gotten better in pass coverage. Lee is about the same. Both can make an INT and do reasonably well in coverage. Both can play multiple positions. Neither are great at it despite timely INTs. Durant is Lee and Carter lite although for the latter that is arguable. I'm still not convinced about Carter. None of them are the greatest three down LBers around although you can argue Lee. Ro can be pushed into three downs but is a better two down LBer.

I'd say Lee or Ro will play Mike although Carter, Hitchens and Durant can play there.

Not sure who the Nickel LBers are going to be. I suspect Watson is going to be one. Can't guess about the other.
