To be honest, I'm not sure if he's the best of the three. Early in the season he was, and he certainly brings a certain physicality to the table that Lee, Carter and Durant do not, but I don't think he was missed that much against Detroit and Green Bay.

Durant was certainly playing well at the Will before he got hurt, and Carter had some moments where was the best linebacker on the field, with a good eye for making the interception.

I got ripped for assuming the worst about McClain when arson was announced. I just had a bad feeling about the guy. They way the season ended was suspect to begin with, now add substance abuse. Anything is possible with this guy.

If he wants the vet minimum fine, but I'm still signing Durant, trying to get Carter cheap and maybe drafting Perryman from the U.

LBs can be the strength of this Defense without a ton of money.

and you SHOULD have gotten ripped for assuming RoMac committed arson. hey, it's a heckuva jump from burning a little weed to burning down your house for the insurance money.

if i'm jerry - i'm saying (inner dialogue) 'thanks for the negotiating leverage, mo' - and ink him to an incentive-laden deal with bargain basement guarantees.

this is too easy.

He is a bad choice away from a four game suspension. And how exactly did McClain show he was a workhorse last year? He missed games and barely practiced half the time. Then he basically was useless in the playoffs due to concussions.

uh... maybe by being the Cowboys' most physically dominant LBer?

He 'barely practiced'? You could have fooled me - on most game days he was THE GUY on defense who brought the wood.

As far as the two playoff concussions... after the first concussion - he probably should have SAT OUT the next game. (Oh, Retrospect - you worthless beauty.) This IS the NFL - and concussions DO happen.

While he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, you can't sell me that McClain is NOT a hard-hitting, oft-dominant linebacker. He's already SHOWN that he is.

One is intentionally making bad choices. The other has had some unfortunate injuries from giving it all on the field . If you want to side with the criminal over the captain that is your choice, a bad one, but yours to make.

Where does it say we have to choose between the two. Why can't we have them BOTH?

Now he gets little more than the veteran minimum because no competitive team can afford to use the roster spot and risk 1 slip up taking him out of the lineup for 4 games, and a 2nd mistake even worse.

Hidgens and Lee can both play the middle, and the landscape just got more attractive for Carter/Durant.

If they have indeed made it so that you can have 2 strikes and miss no games I would be both alarmed and dismayed.

Some else may have already touched on it, but I think they're now distinguishing between PED stuff and recreational use.

I ripped the Cowboys for trading for him. It turns out they were right, clearly. But I think it's time we turn the page on this headcase and just be thankful we got the production out of him that we did.

Sean Lee is back, admittedly with a return ticket, and we've got FA and the draft for other options.

I agree.

I believe it's best we move on.

Then whats the point? Why not just insert Hitchens? Why stunt the growth of a young player for a player you arent willing to give a long term contract to? This kind of thinking makes zero sense to me.

McClain is only 26 and will now cost close too nothing. You want the best players on the field and you want depth.

McClain , Lee, Hitchens , and Durant will all be needed and all get significant playing time. McClain and Durant are both very good LB'S and won't cost much !

Rather have Carter lee and Hitchens starting. All of them are young too :)

Give it a break. I never said he committed arson. I said he was the main suspect, as all home owners are when it's arson and that it wouldn't surprise me if he was involved based on the series of poor choices he has made in his life.

If you are going to accuse me of something at least get it right.

My apologies. I've exagerated your stance re McClain and the arson investigation. You haven't outwardly accused McClain of arson - because, outside of the event itself, you don't have a single shred of evidence upon which to base such a claim. Instead, you've chosen to cast aspersions on his character based upon your gut feelings.

Your post from the thread 'Rolando McClain Facing 4 Game Fine':

'I got ripped for assuming the worst about McClain when arson was announced. I just had a bad feeling about the guy. They way the season ended was suspect to begin with, now add substance abuse. Anything is possible with this guy. ...'

I'm pretty sure I 'got it right' - and I'm thinking you're the one who didn't.

I just get tired of all these 'White Knights' riding in and defending these players no matter what. He has repeatedly shown he makes poor decisions.

He just got caught smoking weed for the 3rd time during a playoff run and a contract year.

He supposedly shot a gun off next to some guys head after an argument.

He quit football twice.

He got arrested two other times while retired.

Someone burned down his house that was up for sale for 6 months and worth 1.5m, I believe he is dumb enough to have been involved.

How could I ever doubt him, he is a real choir boy.

Choir boy or not, please show me the algorithm that makes these disconnected events equate to an arson. You cannot. Because your dealing from the realm of conjecture. Until more evidence is available you are just launching your opinion. While your opinion may seem like a Saturn rocket - bound to reach the heavens... in this case it's actually more like an iron kite - never getting off the ground.
