You really hate to hear stuff like this. Especially for a guy who seemed like he was getting his life back on track. In regards to football, you have to give him a lower end deal and if he doesn't except it let him walk. You just can't rely on him. I thought it was just the injuries but now you have to factor in the off the field problem or the potential problem.

When life gives you lemons... life is giving jerry a pass to ink McClain to the most favorable terms either you or I could have even IMAGINED two months ago. So who are we to look this 'gift horse' in the mouth? Dallas can and likely will get his services 'on the cheap' for at least ONE MORE YEAR.

Is this a bad thing? I can't see it as such.

There is a thread on Ro's house fire in the Rant Zone. Take that topic there if you must. Any further discussion here may be deleted and/or worse. I don't want anyone benched over that. This thread has a topic I suggest you stay on.

And just when they need him he gets suspended for 4 or maybe even 10 games. Puff puff PASS.

For whatever length of time McClain will be available - he should be a pretty good value money-wise... beyond that - life is without guarantees and you take what you can get until you can get more.

I ripped the Cowboys for trading for him. It turns out they were right, clearly. But I think it's time we turn the page on this headcase and just be thankful we got the production out of him that we did.

Sean Lee is back, admittedly with a return ticket, and we've got FA and the draft for other options.

If we get him cheap why not bring him to camp and see how he does. I do think he has been over rated by some but I'm happy with Carter, Lee, Durant and Hitchens. Possible draft another LB this year but see no reason we can't get a look see in training camp if price is right

The front office and staff has been determined all along to retain McClain. I don't seriously think they will be likely to allow someone of his talent and abilities to get away too easily. Sure, Rolando messed up and hurt his chances of getting a generious contract but it'll only afford the FO a chance to save $$ on his contract renewal. He'll only have himself to blame with his recent drug miscue and the organization is certainly likely to benefit monetarily.

Wow, ridiculous. The guy practically saved the defense especially early in the season and we got him for basically nothing and cheap. Your ripping proved to be wrong. I still want him back next season and relying on Lee is laughable.

Second person who said a 6 round pick is nothing.

I might be in the minority, but this team can move forward and replace Rolando,, MLB in a 4-3 are replaceable just ask Jimmy Johnson who devalued the position more than the RB position today.
Lets be real here, Rolando was a great stop gap,,, lets cash in on our investment, he was a part of the reason why we were a 12-4 team last year, no doubt, but you do not invest in players that cant fit the profile of what this team is about today, Im sorry if you cant see this.
This fracnchise is about team leaders, team captains, that are in place to change the chemistry of this team over the last 17 yrs... is one player worth the risk to disrupt this build model/ team chemistry..... as a fan you need to ask yourself that question.

So

Why would you want to turn the page on him so soon? So what if he smoked weed or took something which violated the policy. Heck it could have been some vitamin that he took accidentally. Maybe we should give up on players like Scandrick as well.

Seattle is smarting then us. Despite their entire team getting caught red-handed with PEDs, they didn't try to get rid of them. It only won them the Super Bowl because of it.

Everyone wants Sean Lee back and so do I. However, that guy is like a glass cannon and I wouldn't put my eggs all into the Sean Lee basket just yet.

Scandrick failed one test, where you could make an argument that he ingested the substance accidentally. McClain has failed three. Big difference there.

how this is shaping up - Dallas might get decent discount for Durant (injury) and McClain (+ drug offense). I don't think it will cost much more than vet min to get McClain signed now.
