Rolando McClain Negotiations Not Good

Pretty much what Haley did in the 90's.

This suppose to mean anything?

It's nice to beat up strawmen.

Now how about his poor conditioning, string of condition related injuries, poor performances in second halves of games particularly running to cover routes and a general lack of range in the passing game?

He is a good football player but he is hardly perfect.

Talk about straw men. No one said he was perfect. Is that your expectation?

What round?

He's being routinely judged as a 1st to 2nd rounder. It might be favorable for us to take him in the 1st if the staff is really bent on ensuring his arrival in Dallas. If they decide to wait until the 2nd, he might be there or may not. I'm not saying there aren't others that might have a higher priority but late in the 2nd round could be too late. Certainly, if "Diggy," Gurley or Gordon were there when the #27 pick came due, it might very well be one of them to be taken at that spot.

My guess is the team wants a deal similar to Hardy's where it's mainly game day roster bonuses. He's not getting his first four game checks and could miss 4 games with another failed test. He's probably still smoking pot so that's a risk as they'll be randomly testing him. Ro probably wants guaranteed money but it's not going to be much from any team out there. At the end of the day I think he places such high value on playing for a team that he is comfortable with and coaches that he likes that he'll stay over taking a chance with another team. Game of chicken. From Ro's perspective, there is not much incentive to sign that type of contract right now. "Prepping for divorce" is probably something the team floats out there to let him know we're not going to meet his asking price. Fortunately it appears no other team is going to either, at least one he is willing to play for (and I'm sure that's a short list.)

I agree................I offer him a deal like Hardy got...........you get paid by the game..........if you don't like it, either find another team or go bag groceries.

My concerns with him have nothing to do with his intelligence. Between the interviews with him talking about his injuries and his past I don't trust him.

It has nothing to do with his run ins with the Decatur police over the last 3 years either. I cannot stand small town law enforcement and one only needs to look at the Ferguson report to understand why that is a good disposition to have.

He just strikes me as someone that tells people what they want to hear and exhibits antisocial traits. Lack of empathy and accountability for example.

Interesting.

From my understanding he may not be a 3 down player. You never take a guy in the first round that won't be on the field for all 3-4 downs. I say fill our biggest hole and biggest need first with what will also probably have the BPA at the time and go RB. We still don't know what is going to happen with McClain and if he comes back we already have a plan in place with Brinkley. I think we could and should chance waiting on MLB till the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th round.

It's a shame that he doesn't "love" football or maybe better put "in right frame of mind". He's got all the physical ability and instincts in the world. IF he can only love the game and dedicate himself to it like Lee or Lewis he would be an ALL TIME GREAT MLB. I really believe that. We all saw just glimpses of it last years including incredible interception he made. I believe he has more PHYSICAL ability than Ray Lewis but just not dedicated enough partly because of his mind.

I pull for the guy to play for Cowboys. Maybe the Jones and the Cowboy family can help him find his way and while doing that play great football for the Cowboys. I think if he's successful he will find Cowboy nation embrace him and make his life much easier. Maybe the Jones put in contract to buy him his own lake! A place for him to find himself in the off season.

Agree. Buy his own lake was funny...but for Ro, that's the kind of stuff that would work for him. I bet Parcells could get to him.

Thank you. Everybody understands he's far from perfect with many issues. But he was a dream MLB for this team straight off the couch. I want to see what he can do with a full season of preparation with the Cowboys.

I thought he was very good until the last 4 games when he was injured a lot.

Then say that. You said he wasn't that good last year. He was the main reason our defense went from last to pretty good. This same defense minus Ware, Hatcher and Lee was better with him. Did he die down a little at the end of the year, yes, but that was injuries more than anything. He did miss a game you know with the injury I believe to his leg. The guy is a beast and I and all cowboys fans should be hoping he is on our team next year. I never seen a guy as strong as him. No matter how big the RB is or how much of a running head start the rb gets once he makes contact its as if the rb ran into a brick wall.

No, but adequate range in pass coverage for 4 quarters is.

Then you are going to be sorely disappointed with Jasper Brinkley. Ro is much better in coverage than you realize, for a guy 6-4 260 lbs. his ability to play sideline to sideline and man to man is freakish.

No problem with that for me. I wasn't recommending getting McKinney as our 1st rounder -- there are surely others that we might be inclined to pursue instead. I rather was postulating what the staff might be inclined to do. His coverage is suspect, to say the least, so there's that. Someone like "Diggy," Gurley or Preston Smith and others could easily take precedence over such a pick.
