When the head coach has no authority the players will take advantage of it.
Understand where you're coming from YR but if Mike Fisher's tweet regarding Jerry Jones needing to be convinced about releasing McClain...then it is apparent that Garrett is not at fault for the guy even being on the roster.
I do not hold Garrett for that either. But then again, that flies in the face of the supremely idiotic heory that it is really just all about Stephen and Jason Garrett now and Jerry Jones is just some shadow in the background.
Put me down as wanting him cut as well.
I don't care how much he slacks as long as he is available. He has been given every opportunity to have success and he just finds ways to screw it up.

Cutting him is the most sensible move. Think about it.
A bunch of players will be busting their tails to help the team win games and this slacker who sat at home through the OTAs on an owner-approved pass will just come back with six games left?
Sorry, McClain is not a good enough player to give this much leeway with.
Still like the Jaylon Smith pick?
Keeping around sends a terrible message......he is already a slacker and is routinely out of shape......there are dozens of guys that would give everything just to have a chance.....
What player is?
I can think of several. But be honest with yourself about McClain. Aside from a couple of games in 2014, he has been exactly what he was in Oakland and Baltimore. Unreliable and not worth the bother.

Stupid players will do stupid things.
But when a publicly coddled player does this, you cannot deny the fact that the head coach has no power when it comes down to it.
I dont buy it is not on Garrett. It was his connection to Saban that brought McClain here and he convinced Jerry to sign him. With all of the hugs and slaps and smacks and chest bumps Ive seen Garrett give him, and not say a Hardy, I dont think he is being ignored here.
If this came from MIke Fisher, he is about as right as a tree on most every subject
