Roll the dice tomorrow and take Jack if available?

Supposedly, the Cowboys were one of the teams that flagged Jack's knee condition at the last combine medical recheck. If true, there's no chance that they select him.

I thought I heard the Cowboys didn't have him as a untouchable guy though. HE is on their board. How high is I guess debatable.

My only thing is if he's fallen this far....how far will he fall? I don't want to overdraft him. If he wasn't taken even as a late 1st rounder.......than why would someone take him in the 2nd?

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer...us-reports-on-myles-jack-overblown-disgusting

I think this bears posting again especially with him seeming like such a likely pick. Teams seem to think that the risk is a bit overblown... but they all passed on him. Somethings not adding up and I bet you almost every team in the league is going to take a good hard look at him and his doctors these next 20 or so hours.

In this article the "execs" say they HOPE he falls to them. Yet, none of these "execs" took him. So i'm confused lol.

I'm not positive how guarantees work for rookies, but perhaps teams don't want to have to pay 1st round guaranteed money to Jack because of injury risk, but in the 2nd round there's isn't that guaranteed money concern so they would be willing to take the risk.

I am wondering if this was a group think sort of thing... 1 team passes on him for whatever reason (like say the Jags pass on him because they took Ramsey instead despite everyone thinking they love Jack) so another team panics, and another team panics and so and and so forth.

I have heard that microfracture surgery isn't the best option for high level athletes. Greg Oden(NBA) was ruined because of them.

Unfortunately, there isn't a good option yet. There is Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation which has almost a two year recovery period.

Who knows, maybe this kids knees hold out 5-10 years but I doubt it. If we got him, he would just be sharing the tub with the rest of our linebackers IMO.

Take a stab in the 3rd if he goes that far but be very leary on using a 2nd rounder.

Interesting choice of words considering Leary I think has the exact same condition and is now moving into his 5th year.

I think Marques Colston had both knees done, IIRC.

It can be a career ender, or it can be of little concern it seems. My guess is his condition is of greater concern.

I say yes.

We were stupid enough to take one contract Zeke.

Might as well take one contract Jack.

Kid's a stud and he's hurting inside right now. He will make teams pay for passing him up.

If not Jack, grab Dodd or Spence!

I dont think Jack gets past Tennessee.

32. Browns - A'Shawn Robinson
33. Titans - Myles Jack
34. Cowboys - Kevin Dodd

I heard that Dallas' specific medical reports make them very scared to take him.

No idea how to measure "very" but with all the very good talent staring at them at 34, don't be at all surprised if they pass.

Then you can't take him, you have to trust your medical staff.

This very well may be the case. But that doesn't explain those contenders in the late 1st round though. I just knew the Steelers or someone would take a flyer on him.

But see for me its enticing to have a him as a late 1st round pick since you get him for 5 years. Most don't seem to think he will play that long. Or I should say people THINK he will play around that long. A 3 or 4 year deal......at that point you're getting him and his knees may still be fine at that point.

Be Leary of a 2nd round pick? I like a trade of Leary for chance to draft Myles Jack

Has a team ever had both of the AP Rookie of the Years (offensive and defensive) in the same year? Zeke is an instant front runner to do it next year behind our line, and I could see Jack doing it as well if we draft him (the issue isn't talent but longevity) and linebackers have won it 11 times since 2000. How crazy would it be if we could pull that off... and then still have people complain about our draft lol.

We don't know his medical so it's impossible for any of us to say to pick him.

That has been the problem all along, it was the ambiguity of his condition.

The meniscus is not the issue, he is getting into game shape and is working through the stiffness.

Other players in this draft have a meniscus and are not ready today but will be for the season.

The issue with Jack and why teams are concerned is the degenerative chondral defect that was discovered during the April recheck which most of us were unaware of accordingly!

It is not directly related to the meniscus which is an important distinction that must be made and understood, he would have had this regardless.

It is degenerative in nature and may or may not have long term consequences much like Leary.

I suspect he did not want this coming out before the draft but eventually admitted the condition and possibility of the potential for a future microfracture surgery after teams and the media kept digging away.

He will play this year but risk is involved in the decision making due to the possibility.

David Moore claims he is still on the Dallas board, Brugler and Broaddus are doubtful we are interested.

No, too risky. He may never be the same athlete again, even if Microfracture surgery is successful.

I'll admit to being leery of drafting another LB who may be likely to miss substantial time in our defensive lineup.

Myles Jack might be the bee's knees when healthy but he sure couldn't help the Cowboys sitting on the bench.

Quite a few posters wanted Jack at #4 and now that he has slipped, no one wants him?

This presents great value, I'd take him or Spence in a heartbeat. We need help on defense and we need pass rush, they could both help us.
