I called it then, and I’ll recall it again - the Romo, Witten, Ware years were the dark ages of Cowboys football.

Individual accolades for sure but absolute failure given the talent and expectations.

Who do you think had a better season. Both were peak years that could have won MVPs but got beat out by the narrative. Dak gets his chance to do what Romo couldn't do and beat the Packers. I'm going with Dak he has been lights out.

Romo - 3705 yards 34 TDs 9 Ints
Dak - 4516 yards 36 TDs 9 Ints
800 more yards is a lot

Miss me w the extra game
800 yards seems like a big difference, but it's not apples to apples. Dak played 2 more games and threw 155 more passes, so he had a lot more chance to accumulate yardage & TD's.

Romo's yards per attempt, yards per reception, TD %, passer rating & QBR were all higher.

On the other hand, Romo had the advantage of a much better running game to take some of the pressure off the passing game.

Ultimately, I don't think there is really a wrong answer on this question.

Romo. IMO. Romo did what he did in ball control offense. Dak works with a quick strike offense. Romo had to protect the defense. He had to help the defense. This defense helps the offense. Plus it’s not all about numbers to me. It’s about situational performance. Outside of Maybe Philly, the offensive output against the more completion opponents has be been underwhelming. Sucked against Sf, Buffalo, was average against Detroit and Miami. Those 2014 cowboys had to go to Seattle in their prime and they absolutely conquered them. They beat the Colts, Texans , Saints, and Philly that year. They rose to the occasion in the marquee matchups. More often then not, not just this year but the light Dak career outside of his rookie season, his squads typically disappoint on those marquee matchups against the big boys.

maybe this is the season it all clicked for Dak like it did for Romo that year. I hope so. The playoffs will tell us. He will have to go through SF so that’s a good barometer. I really hope Dak doesn’t have another performance against SF like the last three times he’s play SF. But really hope this is the year for Dak and he finishes his career in Dallas as one of the alltime greats one franchise history but I’m just cautiously optimistic otherwise.

Even if you take out the two extra games.....Dak still has more passing yards.

Romo had a great offensive line in 2014 and leaned on the run game. Demarco was great that year too. Dez and Witten were still in their prime. Give me Dak. Lamb is better than anyone Romo had but Dak did more with less.
Yes, but he threw 155 more passes to get it. If you break it down to what was done with each pass thrown Romo's stats were better.

But you are right about Romo having the better O-Line, and the help of a stronger running game.

It's just not really a fair question with a clear cut answer.

Romo. I believe they went undefeated away if I’m seeing it right. I also think QB play was better then than now. Romo stood out among better QBs in my opinion as well.

Romo going in to Seattle and getting a win against a team thats unbeatable at home>>> anything Dak has done this season

Romo going to Philly in December and throwing for 3 tuddies, essentially clinching the division >>> anything Dak has done this season

Leading the league in passer rating, completion %, td %, y/a in a league with prime Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Manning, Ryan, Luck >>> leading the league in tds with Mahomes, Allen, Purdy, Jackson, & Tua

Stats are higher now.
Stricter rules no hitting the QB and hitting the WRs

Even then

Romo
*113 QB rating

247 ypg
*2.27 TD per gm
*69.9 comp %

*8.5 ypa
* 2 Games vs bottom 10 pass defenses

Prescott

104 QB rating
*265 ypg
2.12 TD/gm
69.5 comp %
7.7 ypa
6 games vs bottom 10 pass defenses ( and 5 vs bottome 3)

Do Dak stans remember that 95% of this board wanted him gone after the niners game where he had 5tds to 4 ints after 5 games into the season?

Thank the lord for the terrible Rams, Eagles, Commanders, and Giants defenses to make his numbers respectable

If dak gets us to the con championship you putting him over Romo?
Ill be honest and say no. I wholeheartedly believe Romo was an elite talent that was held back with a bad gm and coach.

Ill say this though, if Dak leads this team to the NFC championship game on his arm, ill admit i was wrong about him needing to be carried

Exactly why I laugh at people like you. You have the posting history/mentality of if Dak makes it further then Romo or X cowboys quarterback he's better when he could put up a nothing burger and be carried. Half this board thinks the same way.

I'll support any quarterback for the Cowboys but for quarterback ability and etc Romo was superior. What Dak did this year was phenomenal no doubt

Different type of team, different eras, etc
Let me guess, you have nothing to back up your claims was superior

The guy who had the elite run game vs the guy who didn't? This should be cute
Plus Romo had an elite OL. He would have been lucky to make it through half the season behind this OL and running game. Demarco Murray’s 1800+ rushing yards and 13 TDs was a big reason Romo had the season he had in 2014.
