Whether people agree or not, Jerry Jones believes that Tony Romo is a franchise quarterback. On the other hand, he thought that Terrell Owens, as a star wide receiver, would be a key component for the offense.FCBarca;2972834 said:2008
1-3 in December...Only winning club Romo faced outside of the division were the Cardinals, loss.
2007
2-3 in December/January...2 of those wins against sub .500 clubs..1-1 against winning clubs outside of the division (Pats was a loss, GB was a win).
2006
2-4 in December/January...1 win against a losing Atlanta club, the other against 8-8 Giants....1-1 against wining clubs outside the division.
No playoff wins and no late season wins against winning clubs except for one vs the Giants in 2008 which can equally be credited to the defense that had 8 sacks on that day.
Claiming he's a top 5 NFL QB is a bit over the top IMHO...He may have been heading in that direction but in a league that only has a few top echelon QBs/leaders, it's not a ringing endorsement either....While Eli or Roethlisberger are not stat kings to compare to Romo, both have demonstrated the ability to win, win late and win superbowls...So not sure you can summarily disregard them over the obvious ones like Brady, Peyton, Brees & say Rivers or Warner.
Plus, Jerry cut one of the top receivers in the game in TO who was a stat stud so being 'ranked' doesn't necessarily equate to a future with the club or winning.
