Romo bandwagon tally... on or off.

As long as he's the QB, I'll support him. That doesn't mean I'll kiss his butt and will in any way stop criticizing him when he does screw up though. I won't say he sucks, but I will point out where he made mistakes (and can improve).

I think what this poll shows is that this board has a very stupid, but incredibly vocal, minority.

2008

1-3 in December...Only winning club Romo faced outside of the division were the Cardinals, loss.

2007

2-3 in December/January...2 of those wins against sub .500 clubs..1-1 against winning clubs outside of the division (Pats was a loss, GB was a win).

2006

2-4 in December/January...1 win against a losing Atlanta club, the other against 8-8 Giants....1-1 against wining clubs outside the division.

No playoff wins and no late season wins against winning clubs except for one vs the Giants in 2008 which can equally be credited to the defense that had 8 sacks on that day.

Claiming he's a top 5 NFL QB is a bit over the top IMHO...He may have been heading in that direction but in a league that only has a few top echelon QBs/leaders, it's not a ringing endorsement either....While Eli or Roethlisberger are not stat kings to compare to Romo, both have demonstrated the ability to win, win late and win superbowls...So not sure you can summarily disregard them over the obvious ones like Brady, Peyton, Brees & say Rivers or Warner.

Plus, Jerry cut one of the top receivers in the game in TO who was a stat stud so being 'ranked' doesn't necessarily equate to a future with the club or winning.
Whether people agree or not, Jerry Jones believes that Tony Romo is a franchise quarterback. On the other hand, he thought that Terrell Owens, as a star wide receiver, would be a key component for the offense.

Let's review:

Franchise quarterback.

Star receiver.

Franchise quarterback does not equal star receiver. Never has. Never will. Romo's future may not forever be tied to the Cowboys, but it was always (emphasis on always) on a more solid footing than Owens from jump.

I am in the show me dont tell me wagon. I know he has the talent, but when will it show, consistently in the tough games?

You're using the same flawed argument that wick used the other day -- games against teams that went 8-7 against the rest of the league are included on your list ONLY if we lose. For example, the Cardinals went 8-7 against the rest of the league last year. If we had won that game, you wouldn't include it in your list. But since we lost, you include it. There were other games like that in 2006-2007 that we won, so they're not included on your list.

When you do it that way, it automatically makes our record in those games look worse because you're including only the losses.

Just for fun. Are you on the bandwagon or off...

I am most certainly with these guys, driving right next to babe.

On. He will lead this team to #6.

Who would you consider top 5? Mine would probably look something like this.

1. Brady
2. Payton
3. Brees
4. Roethlisburger
5. Eli

The guy is young and is learning. He is the best QB we have had in a long time.

I wouldn't exactly call 29 all that "young". He's been in the league 6 years...

i was clinging to a spot on the wagon until the philly game last year...then i fell off with a thud. his post game comments then made my wave goodbye to the wagon as it rolled down the road. his performance against the giants made me wonder why i was ever on the wagon to begin with.

so in short....i'm off

Wow, tough thread. We've got Wade unable to put the defense together, Jerry undermining the coaches, and players not performing in key spots. How much....or little does Romo add in to that equation? While I certainly do not think Romo is responsible for most of the problems of our ball club, he made a significant contribution to the loss on Sunday night.

If age was not a consideration, Romo would not be in my top five choices today. Those that put age in the equation must believe that Romo will sustain a high level of play and lead us to the playoff promised land. With the departure of TO, hasn't the organization placed their trust in him? He simply must do better if the Cowboys are going anywhere as a team and that is regardless of all of the other problems that are so obvious.

I'm voting on....but I'll admit to some reservations.

here is a different approach.....

how many feel romo would be a much better qb with a different head coach/offensive coordinator...someone who could actually coach romo instead of what he currently has?

i think romo could be an outstanding qb if he had somebody who could actually develop him
