They need to work on some trick plays with both Romo and Dak on the field

Dont think he'll be active this week. Will need to do two full weeks practice before being allowed to play.

good news but dak isnt giving up that starting position. romo can be the backup.

Not really Dak's decision to make. I am a Romo guy and I want him back in there because he is just a better QB than Dak at this time in their careers. But it's not my decision or Romo's decision either. The coach will make the call on who he thinks gives this team the best chance to win.

i have the solution:

Keep Dak as the starter and let Dak get his Super Bowl ring this year
Start Romo next season and keep him the starter (barring injury) and let him get his ring next year

everybody wins!!

Ok, so you put Romo in, and he stinks it up and we lose, how long is his leash? Are you assuming Romo comes back like he never left? How many games do you give to lose? Because if Romo stinks it up, and Dak replaces him, that will be the end of Romo in Dallas.

The leash for either player IMO is 1 1/2 games. In other words, if they don't play well and the team loses, they have another half to get that corrected. We can afford a loss, possibly two, trying to get things figured out.

Of course, I wouldn't do anything until we lose, even if Romo is active.

Excellent point and I hope you're right. No way should he be in uniform until he has two full weeks of practices to see how sore he is or how his body responds. He's one play away from going in and I'm not so sure I want it to be in cold weather, in Pittsburgh without some more practices reps.

Romo isn't even going to be considered until after the short week which is the Ravens game. He's not coming back just to immediately be thrown into short rest again. If after the Ravens/Washington week, he's still not the starter, he's not getting the job back baring a Dak collapse. At the earliest he will be starting the Washington game.

I think the big question with Tony is if he can take a hit, and makes him ill-suited for a backup role unless Sanchez is kept active, too, in case he goes down at first contact. Also, I don't think they are going to replace Dak when and if he loses a game. The coaching staff would have a lot of trouble explaining they are replacing him because they expected him to go undefeated the rest of the way. If he is replaced, it will be simply because they think Tony is ready to play and is the best option at QB, IMO.

I don't understand the premise of the thread? So there's a chance Romo will be qb2 this Sunday? Certainly there are no plans to play him?

If they're going to make the choice than they need to it. Not pull dak in the middle of a game.

They've already made the choice, Dak's play made it for them. There's no decision to be made. Dak's TD to turnover ratio is 16-3 and he has the 4th highest passer rating in the league.

Ultimately this is JG's decision, yes? I see Garrett as being too pragmatic to switch out Dak for Romo at this juncture

According to Garrett every decision is an organizational decision and no way is everyone going to be on board with benching Dak for Romo. It's not going to happen! This a better team than the 2014 team and I haven't seen a Cowboys team since the great 90s teams that has the chemistry and togetherness that this team has.

Ok, Romo has some injuries, but Jesus, he's not a tower of jenga just waiting to be blown over like your post suggests.
