illill tell you one thing, its a good thing no one on this forum is a GM because we'd be switching back and forth between Romo and dak on the field at every incomplete pass lol
It's not just us.

Eagles fans are losing patience with Carson Wentz in a hurry.

If this is the decision that is being made, then they probably have to either trade or release Romo in the offseason.

You cant have a backup QB making $25 million a season. You have to get Romo's contract off the books if Dak is the guy now.

Romo won't be back next season because he wants to start and won't be happy with a backup role. Neither QB will be happy with a backup role and having both on the team will lead to a controversy and distraction so Romo will likely be released unless someone offers to trade for him.

Romo is getting his job back because he is the better qb. It's simple. You guys swear you want "competition at every position" until you don't

Romo won't be getting his job back unless Dak gets injured, might as well deal with it.

I agree. Dallas in no way will have Romo at his salary playing backup.

Romo has $19.6 million remaining of unamortized signing bonus. If he outright retires, that would accelerate onto the 2017 ledger, meaning the Cowboys would save $5.1 million of space on next year’s cap.
That would also clear up $25.2 million of 2018 space that is currently earmarked for Romo, and $23.7 million of similar 2019 space.
Financially speaking, that flexibility would be a boon for the Cowboys.
There is also a possibility that due to his affinity for the club, Romo could allow the club to release him as what was formerly known as a June 1st cap casualty. If that were the case, then only the 2017 prorated bonus amount ($10.7 million) would hit the cap next year, giving Dallas the savings of Romo’s entire 2017 base salary, $14 million.

Obviously it's not simple, which is why so many experts say stick with Dak. Also Romo has literally never played better in his entire career than Dak is playing now.

I saw this on another site but it's a good point that isn't mentioned much. Dak has shown terrific presence in the pocket, maximizing the effectiveness of the offensive line. When pressured he will usually step up or scramble to safety. Tony has a tendency to spin right or left. That makes for highlight film material but since the offensive line isn't sure where he's going it's harder to block for him. Tony exposes himself to hard hits, injury, and turnovers. With the traditional ground attack system the Cowboys are running Dak is the better quarterback.

You're wrong, and you will be dealing with it. Romo will outperform him in practice everyday and the decision will be made clear.

You're the one that's going to be wrong because they're not going to be competing in practice, they're going to be preparing for a game with Dak getting the starting reps. For your information this is November, not July. lol

Ok.. I'll hold you to it. Do you feel this is the best move for the team? What if we win again? I think you're wrong but we'll see.

I think this is the best move for THIS YEAR. in the playoffs I would rather Romo lead this team than Dak. Now next season all bets are off, and Romo will have to prove he can outplay Dak again. Best case scenario is Romo gets his ring this year and retires. Now we have a bona fide qb in Dak plus financial relief from Romo's contract. Everybody wins.

Romo understands the qb position right now at a level Dak can't dream of. It comes with the experience. Yes Dak is faster and stronger but the mental aspect of being a qb is important. He can read the defensive formation where the blitz is coming from what protection to switch into all of that before Dak would ever have time to begin. I believe he gives us a better chance this year at a sb simply because of the difference in their levels of understanding. Not to mention no rookie qb in history has ever won a sb, only Marino even made it there. Romo also can hand the ball off 30 times to Zeke as well.
