Romo Didn't Like The Call

You cannot even describe the play beyond one route where the receiver dropped the ball. It is absolutely unfounded on anything substantive. Your emotional disposition doesn't count.

What the hell does that have to with anything? My point is why did we have to rely on a 12 yard throw to the back shoulder in the first place on 3rd and one? Why is that even an option?

I didn't like it either. I don't view a 20 yard back should throw as a high percentage play on 3rd and 1 with the game on the line. I'd much prefer a high percentage shorter pass designed to get the 1st down and extend the drive.

hey, 3rd and 1, we throw a 20 yard pass ... 3rd and 5 we throw a 3 yard pass go figure.

I'm sure this is how the scenario plays out.

Scott Linehan: Hey guys lets run that play where we throw a pass in the flat to Witten, 3 yards short of the sticks. Surely he'll make someone miss this time.

Tony Romo: Kill Kill Kill

Brandon Weeden: Ok Coach.

Matt Cassell: Who are you again? Have we met?

Jason Garrett: [Claps violently]

Brad Sham: Pass to Witten, short of the first down marker, on comes Jones.

4:30 left in the game. 3rd and 1. Cowboys call time out and discuss the play to run. Cassell, Linehan, Garrett, and Romo in a group discussion. Romo shakes his head and rolls his eyes and walks away. Cassell goes back out to throw a pass Dez dropped. If you recorded the game, look for it. The disgust on Rom's face was obvious.

My 9 year old looked at me and said, "dad Romo's ticked off at the play" LOL.

And none of the coaches can get mad because at this point in his career Romo has made everyone - look better than they really are.

Not just because he's a terrific QB, but because he's so cerebral and is so good at playing the game within the game and making his receivers, line, backs, and coaches - look better than they really are.

Edit: And Defense. GM. Scouts. Owner. Etc. Etc.

exactly, next time Captain Clap says, well Romo didn't call the play I wanted, we can say, yeah and without him you are nothing.

Can't knock the play call. It worked perfectly, up to the point the pass was dropped. Dez certainly had some struggles dropping two first down passes

I know Romo/Garrett seem like they are good friends and I am sure they have a lot in common but Romo has to know by now that he is on borrowed time. I wonder if part of him wants a new staff in Dallas.

Remember when Romo caught heat from constantly changing out of the calls made by either Garrett/Callahan? I would say there is some evidence to support that claim.

he only caught heat when Captain Clap threw him under the bus if the call he audibled out of didn't work. When it did work and it make Captain Clap look good, nothing was said.

He's not but now I FINALLY understand why the play clock is always run down to :01 when he's under center. It's because he's constantly changing the play. Makes me look at him in a whole new way. He's often out there with a bad play call to try to execute, apparently.

haha true

He gets Captain Clap's play call and says, you have got to be jiving me,,,,

Cassell threw a Hail Mary into like qaudruple coverage and Dez caught it, by jumping over two DBs... By the logic of some people here, because Dez caught it and can make special plays like that, Cassell should have thrown it...

Linehan relies on attacking multiple places on the field. He is going to attack short deep and intermediate and he designs his crossing routes. Again just because Cassell threw it there does not mean that there was route run to your ideal. At the end of the day the playcall got a wide open receiver past the sticks.

You guys are just looking for a reason to complain.

What crossing routes?

Hey, no coincidence that the offense really hums sometimes late in games when the sideline play-calling ahs clearly been thrown out.
Those last two drives vs the Giants (and even without Dez) early this year where comical. Knife and Hot butter...

Said that this year... Even when Romo was in, we relied on him making plays at the last minute, free-styling. I think the loss of Callahan was bigger than expected... They've probably totally abandoned any concepts he introduced. I don't see the drag route to Dez anymore.

I agree with Romo. Low percentage pass, a simple out or slant, or RB out of the back field, or here's one, a rub route to get Beasley free but we don't have that one in our play book.

Back shoulder fades aren't low percentage or QB wouldn't do them so often. Its a hard play to defend but all y'all talking about its low percentage smh

Ooooohhhh PLEASE

Least every one here forget the heave in GB last year...... Much ado about nothing

Back shoulder throws by Matt Cassel? Yeah, that's a gimme.
