I think the Ring of Honor should be reserved for players who are great enough to be elected to the HOF. We don't want to dilute its meaning and significance by including players of lesser ability.

So I guess Don Perkins, Don Meredith, Drew Peason, Chuck Howley, Lee Roy Jordan, Cliff Harris, and Daren Woodson's contributions to the Cowboys and its history are just the bi-product of "lesser ability".

smh. :rolleyes::confused:

what if romo puts up 40+?

Then maybe someone will offer us a nice draft pick for him but regardless he's not coming back next season. If you're thinking QB controversy based on a good game by Romo in a meaningless game you can forget that.

I think Romo belongs in the ROH. There is only one picture of any sports figure on any of the walls in my home.

And its Tony Romo.

What he meant to the Cowboys franchise from 2006-2015 can never truly be overestimated.

The haters hate him because he was never able to take the **** sandwiches the FO kept feeding him and turn them into a Lombardi.

I get that. I just don't agree with it.

So Romo's playing, Sanchez is playing. Seems like the Cowboys are desperately conducting a QB audition before the playoffs start.

That could be because they're only going to suit up two QBs. They have to find out where Romo's game is mentally and physically and see if he can take a hit.

Ring of honor is for Super Bowl champions I thought.

I don't think Staubach would have won any more in Romo's situation. I do think Romo would have won plenty in Staubach's era.

I know. He's your hero. But facts are facts. The two QBs had completely different hands dealt to them. I'm not about to change my opinion of Romo now that's he's on his way out. His career was wasted by the owner.

You're right, facts are facts. Staubach has two rings, Romo has zero.

They all had wonderful careers, just not HOF careers. It's really a matter of where you want to draw the line. It's like the Congressional Medal of Honor. Millions of men and women have served our country with bravery and distinction. Limiting the Medal of Honor to only a select few doesn't diminish the accomplishments of those who never earn one.

I would start everyone but the injured for continuity and let them play a series or two

Then bring in Sanchez and then later bring in Romo

Then they still have 2 weeks off

The Hall of Fame has nothing to do with the Ring of Honor. Not a bit.

The Ring of Honor is for Cowboys that stood above and beyond. For players whom the story of the Cowboys and the success of the franchise could not be told without mentioning, referencing and honoring.

And, if you don't think that Chuck Howley or Cliff Harris had HOF quality careers, I don't think that you have any earthly idea what they did in their careers.

Except you are basically advocating for a second Medal of Honor that duplicates the original, except it has Cowboys stamped on the front. With no differentiation, what's the point? Darren Woodson may not make the Hall of Fame, so something like the Ring of Honor is extremely important to him. Charles Haley probably couldn't care less.

I see the ROH a little differently. There are players that meant a lot to the Cowboys that wont make the HOF. Meredith and Drew Pearson are 2 that came to mind. I dont see them as diluting the ROH and both deserve the recognition it provides

If you think that a Lombardi should be the entrance fee to the Cowboys ROH, then that is what you think.

I don't think it should be.

I think Ware should be in the ROH as well. But he DID win a Lombardi. It was with the Broncos. But, he DOES have a ring. LOL!!!

And Witten might still get one before he retires. But..........if he doesn't. Yes. Witten. ROH as well.

Remember. It is a vertical cut up and down the veins leading to the wrist. Not a horizontal cut across the wrist. The former is the one that gets the job done. The latter just winds you up in the hospital answering awkward questions.
Yep. I was a Marine Drill Instructor back in the day and I would always give my recruits those instructions when I first picked them up. I'd never get away with that these days, but I did back then! :)

Romo declines as the pressure builds. Staubach was the opposite and thrived on it.
Staubachs remembered for the Hail Mary, Romo the fumble

There's a reason Staubach's in the HOF and Romo wont be
