Romo Looked Very Sharp in Scrimmage

I do think it was Garrett's finest coaching job during his tenure. He had nothing to rely on in terms of Romo.

In other words, I think he tried harder.

So he stopped trying when Romo came back? Come on now.

Why would I not? I still love the team and like discussing all aspects of it. I just don't lie to myself that the team is better than it is, that's all.
Agree, and there's a difference in supporting the team, and acting as if the team is poised for something great. It's not.

Anyways, I didn't watch the scrimmage, just don't have the interest about a scrimmage like I used to. Now the pre season game where all starters play for a half, that's the game I'm waiting for. So I'm hearing conflicting reports of whether he had zip, and played well or not. Which is it, this is not directed at anyone in particular.

It was 1-4. From the time after his injury until the coach changed, we were outscored 118-39.

No, it was 1-5 and then he got hurt in the 7th game against the Giants in which he started. I would think that would make our record 1-6 in which he was the starter right?

  • QB Tony Romo had his most extensive work of training camp so far and didn’t look particularly sharp. Some of his passes didn’t have the typical zip or spin. But Romo seemed to move well in the pocket. Romo threw a pass low and into the ground in the right flat trying to hit RB Joseph Randle in 7-on-7 drills. Romo also had a pass intercepted, and one of his deep balls wobbled in the air over the middle of the field. Romo also threw a bad pass into double coverage into the end zone that was intended for WR Dez Bryant that was almost intercepted by S J.J. Wilcox. CB Orlando Scandrick and Wilcox were in coverage, and Wilcox almost came up with the pick on a dive.

Considering his reduced practice time, it wasn’t surprising Romo’s performance was uneven Sunday. At times, he looked sharp, completing two well-thrown slants to receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Gavin Escobar that resulted in touchdowns. But on other occasions, he appeared rusty. One of his passes intended for running back Joseph Randle in the flats skipped on the grass. Another, a bomb completed to Terrance Williams over the middle, floated and wobbled. Later, he threw an interception that cornerback Orlando Scandrick snagged.

That is exactly what he inferred. Due to not having Romo he tried harder.

If you cannot tell the difference between what he said and your response a few minutes ago then I'm taking your secret decoder ring from you.

Is that the Cowboy fan in you talking or the Commander fan? :D

Give me a Planck time. Ooops! More Planck time went by typing this there there have been seconds in the entire universe. I love Planck time. Commander's not so much.

true

Never go anywhere without it. Troll B Gone.

No, I was just pointing out that the team doesn't just tank because Romo is out. I don't believe our only shot at success is if Romo is the QB like others here believe. He has played under his regular season stats in both elimination games and playoff games and that is a fact. He hasn't done anything special for this team in those games. Our team has been pretty irrelevant with or without him for many years.

Ridiculous. Cherry picking the games doesn't make your point. If not for Romo, they don't make it to elimination or playoff games. Dallas lost those games due to poor team play, not because of bad play by the QB. If you wish to see poor QB play causing playoff loses, check Dalton and Cincinnati the last two years.

This team has needed Romo to be perfect to make up for other deficiencies. Not another NFL QB has that anchor around their neck. Without him, Dallas doesn't break 4 wins in any of the last 3 years.

I know exactly what he inferred. He inferred he tried harder without Romo. I joked with him and said "So he stopped trying when Romo came back?". Of course he didn't stop trying. He wasn't a better coach then either. The team doesn't just fall apart if Romo isn't around.

Yay, Romo gets us to elimination games and then plays well below his regular season stats and we go home every year. Thank goodness we have Romo what would we ever do without him?

Yep. Delusional. No other description fits. BTW, please put out the stats to show he was "well below his regular season stats." I would, except for the nagging problem that it's imaginary on your part.

My assumption was that he was saying "Why didn't Garrett keep on 'trying harder' in his coaching efforts when Romo returned as starter?"...Because if Garrett "trying harder" could get a Kitna-led Cowboys team to go 5-5, that same level of coaching by Garrett should get a Romo-led team to an even better record.
