And I guess you don't believe that those 23 games Montana started in would skew the ratio?

AdamJT13;2982840 said:I don't think I've seen it mentioned yet, but if we beat Denver this week, Tony Romo will move past Joe Montana for the best road winning percentage by any starting quarterback during the Super Bowl era (minimum of 15 starts).
Romo is 15-5 on the road, a winning percentage of .750. Montana was 61-20 (.753). A win in Denver would put Romo at .762.
The only other quarterback with a road winning percentage better than .667 during the Super Bowl era is Tom Brady, who is 42-14 and has a home game this week.

thanx for making me sick adam![]()
dallascowboyfanboy;2983872 said:Also consider the types of offenses Romo plays in and Montana played in. I would be surprised if Montana's average yards per throw is more than 5.0 The West coast offense was based on dink and dunk passing game and the occasional 8 yard slant that Rice would take for 15-20 yards. I am sure Romo's average is close to 8 yards per throw. Those 30+ TD passes to T.O were medium to deep passes.Romo has taken more chances deep in his short career than Montana probably did his entire career. He's taken more chances and those can cause a QB to lose a game.
AdamJT13;2983853 said:How could Montana NOT be mentioned in this thread, when he's the guy Romo would surpass if we win Sunday?
It's the Romo detractors who turned it into a let's-compare-playoff-games thread, as if any of Romo's regular season accomplishments are null and void until he wins the Super Bowl.
THUMPER;2983977 said:You don't even get to the playoffs without having success in the regular season people and once you get there you face the best teams. That means that the entire team has to step up and in our case that hasn't happened.

I asked a question about Eli Manning. Perhaps you don't remember the hype about the Giants on the road in 2007. How they only lost one road game (to Dallas in week 1) and how Eli was a road warrior. Hence why I asked. Lo and behold Romo to this point is way ahead of Eli the road warrior.

I doubt it.

'Disparagement' is what some may accuse this post of being toward Romo. But your point is well taken.

skinsscalper;2984250 said:Yes, I know what disparity is. The inequity is in the number of games played by both.
I could make a claim that Mark Sanchez is the greatest QB ever to grace the planet because his win % is .1000 compared to Joe Montana's blah, blah blah. See? It's silly.
Now, a more valid argument (or claim) would be to compare Romo's numbers to Montana's at the same point in their careers (i.e. games played). Until then, Mark Sanchez is the greatest QB in the history of the world, and Romo can quit now and prep for the Hall of Fame.
