News: Romo restructured according to the FAN

Tony was on mike and mike this a.m saying restructure would happen soon, guess he was headed to VR to do just that.ha

Since Romo is restructuring this year and pushing cap money down the road, is it possible that in the next year or so he takes an actual pay cut to reduce his cap hit, or does the pay cut only reduce his actual money and not cap hit?

Because if it effects both, then I def see him taking a pay cut in the next season or two to give them cap relief seeing how he said he would've done it if it meant keeping Murray.

This Rand guy has been reporting stuff for awhile and he actually broke the news first about the Romo restructuring. That's why I'm posting his instead of Fish's "Breaking" tweet.

I figured you'd be more on top than I of which sources are reliable.

So immediately most everyone thinks it is to bring in AP...so if this thread turns into an AP thread does it get moved....... since it is not real news....

Maybe it's to get a long term deal done for Dez, as well as cap room for the draft picks. since Carr won't take a pay cut, nor will he be a June 1st cut.

So the Saints are in cap hell but they have not restructured Brees' contract ? That seems odd.

Choices. I think they believe Brees' best days are behind him so they don't want to push his money forward.

welp if we do in fact restructure it looks like were at least going to make a try to do it. i get how the vikings wouldnt want us to get him especially after herschel.

There are any number of reasons they could be doing this. The main thing is, they can free up 13M and not use all of it. If they only use 6M of it then the other 7M will roll over to next season.

So it isn't like they're freeing up 13M so they can add another 10M contract to this year's cap.

And you are right about one thing for sure... Minn does not want AP going off in Dallas.

Dallas had very little cap left correct? This restructure was needed whether or not AP is involved, which I don't think he is.....at this point.

If this team gets AP I don't care what most say but it's a forgone conclusion he gets 2000+ yards behind this line. A year off of full health and a chip on his shoulder is dangerous. I don't think people understand the legitimate fear NFL defenses would have for the offense. It's a nightmare scenario because this offense would be unstoppable.

Peterson won't rush for 2000 yards in Dallas.

I wished they had restructured someone else. To a lesser value - but Romo was the only high priced player to get this much of a number from.
I hope it does not come back to bite us.

Fish is a good enough source. He's just extra snarky about what he believes is going on at Valley Ranch, regardless of whether he's right or wrong.

Guess I'll defer to you, but I dunno. Dude's been wrong way more often than right recently. His sources seem to be the chorus of voices in his head.

Yahoo reporting as well. Official....

Yahoo! Sports' Rand Getlin reports Tony Romo has agreed to restructure his contract, clearing "nearly" $13 million in cap space for the Cowboys.
Prior to this move, the Cowboys were right up against the cap with ILB Rolando McClain's new one-year, $3 million deal set to hit the books. Romo is likely converting most of his $17 million salary into a "signing" bonus. Romo previously said he'd take a pay cut so Dallas could re-sign DeMarco Murray. Maybe he'd do the same for an Adrian Peterson addition, though that seems unlikely at this point.
