3 teams that are guaranteed to make playoffs with Romo and guaranteed not to, without him

That is worth a premium pick or 2

You couldn't be more wrong. How do you figure all 3 of those teams are "guaranteed" not to make the playoffs without Romo when two of those teams made the playoffs last season? KC went 12-4 so you're way off base thinking they're guaranteed to miss the playoffs without Romo. Having Romo doesn't "guarantee" anyone of making the playoffs, we only made the playoffs four times in the 10 years he was our starter. We're not getting a couple of "premium" picks for Romo.

What do you think will happen with Romo this offseason? Here are important upcoming league dates that may factor into the decision:

  • March 9 - 2017 league year begins. Top 51 Begins. All clubs must be under the 2017 salary cap prior to 4 PM EST. Trading period starts at 4 PM EST.
  • April 27-19 - 2017 NFL Draft
  • June 2 - Unamortized signing bonuses belonging to players released or traded on or after June 2 will be included with the 2018 league year.

have posted elsewhere on this forum but if possible would like to see the following

1. Tony becomes assistant OC / QB. ( old fashioned player / coach - not sure if allowed under current rules )

2. Restructures contract to fit the player coach role...

We just need to know how to negotiate and not send out smoke signals that we will release Romo if we can't trade him

Also if he is a June cut that is far far less helpful to those teams because they will want him to get in to OTAs since it will be a new system

We can get something in return if we are smart
If someone wants Romo early they have to pay thru the nose

Those extra weeks will be invaluable...why help them if we are still taking the full 19.6m hit

A first round draft pick THIS YEAR is my starting price if I move him in March.....Kizer, Watson and Trubisky aren't the answer
If I wait until Sept then the desperate GMs will pay desperate prices......if not I restructure him, keep him and wait until the trade deadline

If a team wants to for sure get their man, it's in their best interest to acquire him via a trade. Otherwise, he will have many many choices.

Agreed
Problem is that Jerry will never do that

I hope they trade him to a contender but expect him to be released. I sincerely hope they do not trade him to a cellar dweller no matter what they offer. Tony has given his heart and soul to this team for over a decade. It is not his fault he has had to overcome poor coaching. Do the right thing Jerry, trade him to a contender or release him!!!

Houston got lucky
Indy will make it next year unless if Houston gets Tony

Between KC and Denver only 1 will make it
The team that gets tony will make it in addition to the raiders, the other is out

Say hi back as Houston is kicking themselves in the ars right now paying out that kind of money for a guy who did not do much even in Denver. What does Houston mistake have to do with Dallas?
It means there are always extenuating circumstances......Never say never.

Osweiller played one year for ASU. ONE year. Hand picked by Elway. Bus driver for several games. Tahdah......He's a multi millionaire and now a backup...... Multi Millionaire

QB's have the NFL by the balls. You never know who sees what in one AND what they're willing to do roll the dice.

Houston had the #1 defense and has made the playoffs the last 2 seasons. They were picked prior to the season to be a contender. The problem Romo would face in Houston or wherever he ends up is he won't have the OL he had in Dallas. The Texans don't have a great runner for him to lean on and they don't have a security blanket like Jason Witten for him. You're going way out on a limb guaranteeing any of those teams will make the playoffs with Romo because what makes you think he'll stay healthy?

He wasn't cleared to play until the midway point of this past season and in 2015 he missed 12 games. He's missed games due to injury the past 4 seasons and he's not going to be able to help anyone standing on the sidelines with an injury. His chances of playing 16 games next season are slim. If I get the time I'll go back and checkout some of your predictions from this past season. lol

Romo will be super motivated to play great, for the smart and lucky team that gets him.

The two most likely scenarios are that Romo will either be released or traded. Of those two, I think it's the most likely he'll be released.

People actually think someone is going to trade for Romo?

The only way I see it happening is if Romo's agent has indicated that cash offers will be extraordinarily slim on the open market. That would make salary renegotiation and trade ("sign and trade") more likely, but I don't see it. He's 37.

Making a mistake and not being able to get out of it without extreme cost is one thing. Dallas has a QB in Prescott and as much as I like Romo Dallas is in a position to unload his contract with a base of 14, 19 and 20 mill remaining. I do not see any way Dallas is keeping Romo at his contract. If Romo was in the last year of his contract maybe they keep him but he has 3 years remaining at a high cost, that money being freed up can be a big boost to this franchise.

Houston could draft a 1st round olineman this year.

Sure they will. Denver and Houston should be chomping at the bit.

It's going to take more than that to have near the OL we have. Romo isn't going to have it better with anyone else than he had it with the Cowboys. Our OL and skill position players are as good as it gets. We have everything to keep him healthy but his body is breaking down from years of hits and the more he has to do the less likely he's going to remain healthy. Anyone that brings him in looking to him as a savior is going to be making a big mistake. If you put games on his shoulders, he won't last long especially if the players around him don't step up. He can't be winging it every Sunday or he won't last long.

IMO, it will end up being something like Murray from Philly to Tennessee. Agent was allowed to talk to other teams to talk restructure and then the Eagles worked a deal with the teams interested in Murray.

I wouldn't expect a great return. This talk of #1 picks and 2nd rounders is folly.

It will be a mid-round pick this year and likely another mid-round pick next year that could improve based on games played/success of the team taking Romo on.

Plus they have Nick Martin (Zach's brother) coming back. He had won the center job, then got hurt. If he totally recovers, he brings a lot to the OL.
