no im a cowboy fan so please stop accussing me of a skin fan thank you

I think the point the other posters are making here is that you have just recently joined this forum and you start a negative thread about the franchise QB.

For a newbie to openly question the arm strenght of the franchise QB is suspicious for alot of us.

You usually need to have some skins on the wall (ie, more than 30 posts) before you openly question the franchise QB.

Just some friendly advice from Beast.:D

Not worried about the deep ball with Romo but, I'd have to concur, he doesn't have a cannon for an arm.

I'm reminded of that 2nd or 3rd to last play in the SB when Brady tossed a deeeeep desperation pass attempt to Moss that was jussssst knocked away...That had to have been about 60 yards right on the money...I don't think Romo makes that throw but then again, how often do you need that throw?

If this is a critique, then, yeah, he's got a weaker arm in that respect than many other QBs...But overall?...I don't know that there are even 2 QBs I'd take over Tony.
:hammer:and so ends this thread!

Since when is the ability to throw a bomb 40 yards indicative of arm strength? Aikman had a gun and could go 70 or so yards if I can remember correctly. The issue is that Qbs dont have the time to throw it 70 yards and other than the hail mary there are no plays for that in the playbook. 40 yards in the air is a huge bomb Deep passes like that are about leading your receiver to allow him to run under it. Not how far you can throw it.

Deep outs and ins are where that shows and he can make those throws. He threw 57 mph at the combine. Thats the difference between a pitcher throwing 98 versus 100 mph. this should not be difficult to figure out or even in question.

He tries to throw a catchable ball. He does not try to rifle each and every pass. Given the measurables, to say that his arm strength is average is laughable.

Coming out of college, Romo's passes were clocked at 57 mph.

Joe Flacco had the strongest arm in the draft this year. He threw 58 mph.

I think you are mistaken here my friend.

I went to training camp last year in San Antonio and I was watching Romo one day before team practice. He was throwing deep to one of the young receivers and the ball was easily going 60 yards in the air. That is NOT an indication of a weak arm.

Romo may not have a cannon, but he has plenty arm strenght to make all the throws in the NFL.

End of story.

Huh...such a weak arm yet I seem to remember a route down the right sideline to Crayton for a TD against the Rams...a deep ball over the middle to Owens in the second Giants game for a TD...2 deep balls to Owens in the first Commanders game...Oh yeah and there was that pesky over throw of Owens in the second Philly game on the second or third play of the game...

But, yeah, no doubt. Terrible arm. So pathetically weak.

*Rolls eyes*

You know what Hos, this debate can be so overblown if history tells us that a QB, doesn't need to have a superman type of an arm to succeed in the NFL.

Joe Montana, is the poster child of this very debate and yet he's the best QB, to ever played without have a great arm but you still have some uninformed people that still complain about arm strength.

Arm strength, is a necessity for a QB, not a prerequisite but it does help if a QB, has it because he can get away with certain throws most other QBs can't.

Romo, while he doesn't have the arm Aikman had, his arm is deceptively strong, I don't need some "fairweather fan", to tell me that Romo, has a "weak" arm you, and I seen enough of Romo's games to dispute any evaluation of his arm.

The evidence is so overwhelming 4,212 36 TDs, yeah that is a very "weak arm".

I just don't get some people who do they really want as Dallas QB, as of now I wouldn't want anyone besides Romo, at QB and I do believe he will win a SB, for the Cowboys don't know when but I see it.

This bit about Romo and arm strength has been beaten to death in the past. Where have you been?

I have no idea why you are addressing this to me. I didn't start the thread.

what's funny, is that the indicative passes of having great arm strength are attempted on average, 4-6 times a game

and yet that is the barometer of whether your arm is weak or not

Hmm...it must be the offseason.

Are we really trying to say that we have a weak armed QB who happened to break long-standing Cowboys passing records?

I agree. I think we need to call Jeff George. The guy has a Big Bertha attached to his shoulder.

I know you didn't start the thread I just like your expertise about football and how well you evaluate QBs.

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm dense today. I thought you were answering me with what the OP brought up.

We're all that way sometimes, but when it comes to football I enjoy reading all of your posts.
