Well...last 7 games vs NY
An undefeated 5-0 with Romo
0-2 without Romo

But yes, not that could haves mean much, but they could have won today.

Agree on Romo, I do think some of those field goal drives would translate to a few more points. Dak managed the game and took what the defense gave him, not forcing many throws. Great that a rookie was focused on protecting the ball, but adjustments will need to be made. The pass rush did impact him so, I would expect some defenses to throw more complex blitz packages at him in the coming weeks. We need to put in more hb screens to help him. I habe no idea why this wasnt a bigger part of the gameplan to begin with to get Elliott into space.

On third and long Witten was pretty much the one guy I wouldn't throw a screen to. And yet we did it twice. Meanwhile we barely tried any screens at all with guys who can make plays on those types of passes. I was left scratching my head.

I'm not so sure Romo does win that game. Just like Dak, he's also been let down by his teammates after putting them in position to win. Particularly against the Gmen in Dallas. Different QB, same story.

That's the thing. I just hope he's able to be the guy he once was. Romo has broken a back bone and twice broken his collarbone in something like his last 80 pass attempts. He's not going to win many games at that kind of pace.

As to the bigger point, yes, I agree that regular Romo wins this. I thought the game was lost when our offense twice took over possession with a chance to go up by two scores, but we weren't able to punch one in.

I'm tired of the Romo arguments. The reason Dak is playing 3 years before he needs to is because of Romo's inability to stay on the field. Drumming up hypotheticals that can not be substantiated are pointless. No one knows what Romo would or would not have did.

Dak played well enough to win but his WRs and coaching staff failed him and that's now a trend.

I think we would have scored at least another 14 points with Romo back there. Even if we put Romo back there for the final 2 drives with everything else the same I love our chances of winning.

The irony is that with Romo in there we probably would've blown the Giant out today. These games are typically close, but the defense held them to 20 points (although overall they were crap). Romo would've led us to 30 or even 40 points today.

Romo has to run around like a chicken with his head cut off, frantically pointing and motioning and snapping the ball at :01 just to squeeze come productivity out of this mess. Dak is stuck running the play as called.

I agree, but I'd say all that gesticulating and motioning would probably net us 30 pts per game. So I'd call that a little more than just some productivity.

I think we would have killed them.

But the reality is that our defense probably would have given up another 2 touchdowns and it would still have been close. That just seems to be the way they are.

they tried a screen to zeke in the third quarter and he couldn't get out of the pile of guys and dak threw it into the ground. That was the only attempt to get zeke the ball in space.

Apparently zeke is our christian okoye and will be asked to ram his head into a wall 25 times a week.

Maybe. He may have done enough to overcome the poor OL, running game and defense. Or he may have thrown one or two of his ill-advised INT's and we still lost. We'll never know.

I didn't feel like the coaching hurt us today.. I also didn't feel like it helped.

I'm watching New England get guys wide bleeping open right now through scheme with Jimmy Garropolo.. When will it be our turn?

I enjoyed all the misdirection and bootlegs but not 1 big play from the offense today.

Perhaps, but we put up at least 11 more points today if Dez, Beasley, and TWill simply show up.

And we almost never blow out the Giants. Chalk it up division rivalry, but even with Tony I see it coming down to the wire.

I remember it. I was shocked that it took so long. I was even more shocked that they completely abandoned it after one attempt. I think Dunbar had a screen, didn't he?

Witten had as many screens as our RBs, and his came on third and 20. I love Witten, but if I never see him trying to pick up 17 yards like that again I'll die a happy man.

I dont understand the witten screen and I bet no one does. It makes no sense. I imagine even witten would acknowledge it does not fit his skill set.

but it was what they did tonight. throw short and keep running.

Why run a screen to him when you have the ability to get Witten out in space for some screen action? Biggest question marks for me with Dak were Red Zone and Two-Minute. Hard to blame him when he had some poorly timed drops and bad clock management from other guys on the field. His poise is amazing. Needs to get better on his deep ball though. That was a weapon in the preseason and NYG gave it up all game and he couldn't take advantage.

True that all QBs get let down by teammates...as vice-versa.
As we've always sai around here; it is the ultimate team game. More than any other.
I mean, players don't play both ways in this sport, so control is drastically reduced.

But they've beaten the Gmen 5 straight with Romo ( and 3 at home) and there were big drops in all of those games.

There were at least 6 times today where there were clear issues with vets not being in the same page as the QB. It happens to rooks...nothing new.

I doubt/hope Dak doe t have another game of 69 QB rating, no TDs, and only 5 yards per attempt.

Witten was pretty much the worst player to run that screen on the entire team unless they made Chaz Green an eligible receiver in the jumbo package.
