Romo probably does. He's a great QB. But Dak played well today. I got no beef with his performance, and I'm actually relieved to have seen it, because I think we've got our next QB on the roster already.
I'm right there with you. Dak played very well and none of this is on him.

Not bashing Romo but, let's keep it real... On that play where JPP swung around and hit Dak's passing arm, the one where Dak showed great strength in maintaining focus downfield and holding onto the ball...

Romo coughs that up easy. I've seen it too many times.

That all said, a healthy Romo and Dak is a great problem to have. Right now though, we have a healthy Dak and I will trust him to guide us to some Ws.

Well, the word is that Romo is both upbeat and in full support of Dak.
They say he is still coaching him up in a big way.

I'm willing to bet anyone money that Romo would have put together a better game plan than what we got from Linehan today. Our next OC is on the roster.

I'm sure he is. Romo doesn't want to watch this team lose any more than we do. The difference is that he can still help from the sidelines through preparation and teaching, while all we can do is watch it unfold.

I think we all know that the play clock routinely gets to 1 because Romo is making up the gameplan on the field between plays.

People just can't wait to run Romo out of town. I'll never understand why. Without him this team has been hot garbage and it still is.

I keep waiting for the day when people will open their eyes and appreciate what he's done for this franchise and the stability he brought after the revolving door of QBs after Aikman.

i for one will miss Romo when it's all said and done and unfortunately he will end up being our generations Danny White.

I hope this thread isn't going to be posted every week. Tony is not here we need to deal with it not hypotheticals.

I honestly think this thread is a bit of backlash because of the number of people who have wanted to dump Romo immediately for Dak. The 'Dak is the future, Romo had his chance' crowd - most of whom have been waiting years to **** on Romo and have crawled out of the woodwork recently.

This is nonsense. Stop.

I'm tired of the Romo arguments. The reason Dak is playing 3 years before he needs to is because of Romo's inability to stay on the field. Drumming up hypotheticals that can not be substantiated are pointless. No one knows what Romo would or would not have did.

Dak played well enough to win but his WRs and coaching staff failed him and that's now a trend.

You're tired of those arguments because you thought maybe Dak would be that one guy who would defy all the odds and put you out of the Romo misery once and for all and it just isn't gonna happen.

No matter how much you try to deny it, you simply have to accept that Romo would've made a difference and probably would've won the game and yes, it can be substantiated because he has a ten-year history of doing it over and over with just as pathetic of a defense as we have this year.

That's not a hypothetical, that's a fact.

I was waiting for the reactions of the few haters and it never fails to disappoint. While we all root for Dak and are excited by his future, the usual suspects are upset not that we lost, but that they would have to accept the fact the Tony gives us the best chance to win as it always was going to be.

Unless he gets hurt again he's the QB for the next two years and I would hope nobody wants him to get hurt--

I would hope.

Just for perspective and no disrespect to Dak, but that 69.4 QB rating is near the floor for Romo unless you want to count his playing injured and getting reinsured game vs Seattle.

you may find 2-3 like that in his last 40 starts.

Of course they win.

But I think the future is bright for Mr Prescott.

Maybe. He may have done enough to overcome the poor OL, running game and defense. Or he may have thrown one or two of his ill-advised INT's and we still lost. We'll never know.

As opposed to all the wisely advised INTs that other QBs throw?

He wasn't supposed to see the field for probably 2 years. Considering how he was thrust into the starting role he did very well. But I want him back on the bench learning as soon as possible. I'm sick of close losses and moral victories.

And I think that when he goes back to the bench he's going to be able to use the experience he picks up now to develop into an even better QB. So overall I'm encouraged. We just need to find a way to beat the Commanders.

No question.

The way the fans and local media have talked about him and basically thrown him out with the garbage is pretty sad. Says a lot about who and what cowboys fans are to be honest.

I hope there is a season to come back to when he is ready and I think that will be cincy. Hopefully we can beat sf.
Nobody has even implied any of that. What i have seen is people just stating the obvious. His body has taken the hits and his body cant take it anymore

Dallas was 1 point from berating a much imroved team with its rookie qb and its defense suspended. 1 Dez catch and 1 Beasley catch and its a win. They just have to make those plays.

I agree 100%. Romo finishes the drives. In fairness, he probably has a better idea of what NFL open is for a guy like Dez and gets him more involved. Also Romo does a better job of running 2 minute drill

Morris needs to play more. He took better advantage of his runs
FGs instead of TDs has been blamed for many losses the past few years.

IIRC there was a thread this summer about how EE could help change that problem.

I think a 100% healthy Romo does win this game but we'll never see him 100% ever again. It is hard to know what a 1 hit from retirement Romo would have done.
