this year alone, records of the teams with worse defensive qb rating going into wk 17.

4-11
4-11
3-12
4-10-1
8-7
4-11
7-7-1
2-13
That's a good stat for its correlation to winning, and points per drive is even better. We were 28th going into today. The teams that rank below us are 20-43-1. The four teams ahead of us are 24-39-1.

If people would stop for about 2 minutes and actually look at the offense's ranking (4th), and compare it to the defense's ranking (28th), they'd solve the mystery pretty quickly.

Alright, then.

Well look, there was less audibling because the backup QB doesn't get to audible as much. How much more or less effective the offense would have been with those audibles is something we will never know.

It is worth noting though that apparently it was not the QB switching away from of all of those running plays.

Romo had the last 2 years to do it. and he failed.

And that's what it all comes down to.. Could Romo have won it? Sure but he could have lost it too.I never thought the Cowboys would have won with Romo. I'm actually shocked that Orton played a pretty good game today, besides the last pass.

All the audibling seems like it confuses his team more than it helps though, not to mention that i don't think he can read a defense as well as he thinks he can. I agree with the poster earlier who said Romo is better at avoiding pressure, but Orton seems like he had less pressure against him because he makes quicker reads and gets the ball out quicker. He seems like he knows where his ideal matchups are going to be before he even snaps the ball and does a good job of getting the ball on his target much earlier in the route than Tony. Makes the OL's job much easier.

Unless you are on the field that is complete speculation though. Whatever you want to say about the offense tonight they didn't seem any more or less 'confused' than normal.

Like he would have beaten the Skins last year and Giants year prior....give me a break.

He did nothing against this same defense earlier in the year.

No idea what we would have done with Romo, but you are comparing apples and oranges...way, WAY better chance this year playing at home with a decent line, running game, pass protection, and deeper receiving corp.
If you think even just the home and away factor is not huge toy know nothing about the NFL.
I assume you know that though.

I thought Orton was okay though.
I mean,he was Kyle Orton.
85 QB rating
36 QBR
That is Kyle Orton for his career basically

Well that may be true for you, but it certainly seemed more organized and like everyone was on the same page to me. Idk, perceptions vary.

Well an offense that averages almost 28 points a game scored 22 against the 30th ranked defense in the league, so feel free to perceive what you want.

if if if..

If Romo was playing, he could have thrown that same Int at the end of the game.

only plays I saw Orton not make that Romo is much better at is finding a way to escape the blitz. When Orton had to throw on his back foot, it was terrible.

I disagree. You don't think this offense looked alot smoother and more organized tonight than normal?

????

What?
I thought they were fine, but compared to most go our home games this year, I certainly don't think it looked better.

Well the last time we played the 30th ranked defense, with our All Star QB no less, we scored 17 points.. so yea. You perceive what you want.

Not to mention with our lowly backup tonight i didn't see any false start or delay of game penalties.. and he drew the other team offsides at least 3 or 4 times.

It felt that way to me too. Look I'm not a Romo hater. I want the guy to succeed, but I've seen enough to frankly not feel any more confident in him than Orton. It isn't a big stretch to think Romo may have done a bit better. He has gotten all of the game snaps this season after all and should be sharper. Either way we weren't going far with this team and leadership.

Home, road, whatever.

So now Romo is responsible for false starts. Can we blame him for global warming too?

And kudos that Orton has a better hard count than Romo. Maybe we should start him next year based on that.
