The problem we have is while Romo has over achieved with personal accomplishments we haven't had team accomplishments and Romo is being held responsible by some fans.

And don't forget it was a new, oil slicked balls fault that made him put it on the ground in the Seattle playoff game. Or the bad lights that made the ball get thrown right to the DB in the skin game a couple years later.

I always find it funny that some people want to hate on Romo as a quarterback because of how he performed as a holder on special teams.

Let's try and forget that Romo the quarterback had just driven the Cowboys in the 4th quarter... the length of the field...right down the throat of the defense...at the most difficult insane-loud road venue in the sport.

For someone that wants to hate it's easy to hold onto things that affirm their hate.

I don't see any one giving Romo a pass here. But that don't change the fact that what surrounded him most of his career wasn't pitiful. Yet he was able to accomplish more than most would ever dream of.

For the sake of argument, what did he accomplish? If statistics and moral victories matter, then absolutely. If being most all of our favorite player and providing highlight real plays matter, then absolutely, he accomplished a ton. But,,,,,,that's all makes for a what type of legacy. And no, not just in the minds of half of the Cowboys fan base.

I love that argument. Problem is I was at that game. Like i have been at every playoff game Tony has ever played in. Why does everyone forget something very important about that game? Up until the last drive Tony had 135 yards passing through 58 minutes of play. He was great in the last drive but that was it. TO only had 3 catches and Tony went to him very little. It wasn't Tony's first game holding the ball on kicks, he had the job for two years.

Look, Tony was the only thing we had to cheer about for quite a while. But it's over. I said it after his first back injury. When you're his age, you have back problems, and you prefer to play his type of game, it's almost impossible to succeed.

What do you think Tony's reaction will be if, in fact, he does not get his job back when cleared? Big distraction with locker room choosing sides, or will he accept the role of mentor and good teammate? Hmmm
Tony will get another shot. There is no doubt about this. He is owed one. The exception is if we win out until his anticipated return. That would be tough.

I'm holding on with all this Romo vs Dak talk, I'm trying to stay out of it.

Fun fact: Cowboys had Sean Payton and Mike Zimmer in-house at the same time and ended up with Jason Garrett 7 years later.

Let that sink in.....

Romo had Wade and Garrett and people still blame him, incredible

I've been to Romo's home playoff games against Detroit and New York. You went to Seattle , Green Bay and Minnesota too?

I have no doubt he'd take it like a man and put the team first.

But I'd like to think he'd snap and kick the living crap out of Jerry Jones.

That doesn't mean what you think it does.

I don't think Tony would be a cancer. I think Tony knows this league is desperate for quarterback play and if he wants to play some team will use him. But as long as he's healthy.....he knows he has nothing to worry about. I'm for either position. I don't mind Dak staying in simply because he gets the experience. But I don't mind Romo getting his spot back because he's a better quarterback.

Parcels steered away from what the Cowboys had been doing as a team that season and went ultra-conservative. I'm a big Parcells fan but wasn't a fan of his approach that day. Bottom line: Romo was heroically clutch in the 4th quarter in Seattle...in the playoffs...as quarterback. As a holder he wasn't so good.

I don't disagree that Tony's career is near--or at--the end. In fact I threw down a plan on this very forum 3 years ago when his contract was up for extension...

...I proposed: Trade Romo for a bounty of picks and invest the $100 million on prudent free agents. I just felt he wouldn't be able to sustain greatness with age and health issues. And at the time we were in bad cap shape with a poor roster. I believe I'm insanely objective about Romo despite him being my favorite player.

The real students of quarterbacking will tell you: Romo had some stray moments but he was ridiculously good. Why fans need to dump on him at this point is a bit beyond me.

I appreciate your post here. I'm fine either way, though if I had to make the decision this minute I might be in favor of starting Dak.

Here's something to consider: If Romo can't play at least 3-4 games to prove his worth I don't think he has any worth in a trade. In his last 4 games he's gotten seriously hurt 3 times (something like that). He's got chronic health issues and he's pretty darn old for the NFL.

The bigger issue is Romo's enormous contract. In baseball you can buy out part of a contract...I don't think you can do that in football. So some team would be on the hook for a massive amount of money with the very real possibility that Romo would only end up playing a few games here or there. I don't think he's tradeable.

We had Zimmer and Payton at the same time and fans trashed each of them, too.

Let that sink in. A lot of fans don't know what they're talking about when it comes to coaching.

It depends. Like you know there are those teams that spend ridiculous money on kickers just to get to the salary cap. I don't think he's traceable either due to his contract. I think his fate may be as a cut similar to Peyton Manning. Sucks for Romo. I do think he's the better quarterback but I don't know if you want to mess with this chemistry. I don't think they should rush him back and to be honest i'd want to see Dak against that Eagirls team. I think we all want a Wentz vs Dak matchup.

But on the other hand, I do feel like Romo would've won that Giants game so you could argue he'd be 4-0 at this point.

Well i'll say this, I Think Payton didn't come here because of Parcels. Parcels was still coaching when Payton went to the Saints. Zimmer's unit wasn't performing up to par.

Its clear these guys can coach. Jerry doesn't sign off on guys who can't coach. Even Garrett. He may not be a fan favorite(he's been one of the better coaches this year IMO) but Garrett was in demand at one point. And he'd still get a job if we were to fire him.

I've been to Romo's home playoff games against Detroit and New York. You went to Seattle , Green Bay and Minnesota too?

03 Carolina, 06 Seattle loss, 07 Giants Loss, 09 Philly Win and then Minny loss, in 2104 I was at Detrot PI win but could not make GB game for the Dez catch loss. That's the year my wife was battling cancer. If the Boys make it to the playoffs, and my family's is taken care of, and healthy, me and one of my boys is there. Why not? Put up or shut up right?
Best game out of any wins or losses was Seattle 06'. Best tailgate, best food, best treatment in stands, all while me and my boy were decked in Romo jerseys and Boys gear. It was an Experience unlike any other, with maybe the exception of an LSU night game.
Y'all think you know people, you think you have it figured out. Some of us just see it a little different now. I knew when the 80's were over. I knew when Jimmy left what would happen and now I know Tony's time is upon us. I know when to throw in the towel. I Know when to blast them and when to pump them up. Now is a time that the team has a chemistry and a swag about them they haven't had in over two decades. It's time to ride the Dak wave. If Tony comes back, say your goodbyes. He will not walk off the field. And in a weird type of way, that's probably how he's want it to be. Tony was great l, but great individually. Brady won with Nobody around him. Rodgers, who was even on that team? MJ won with nobody around him. Lebron, nobody!!! Some guys rise above the excuse that there is nobody to help. Others make it their challenge and grab it by the balls!!!✌️
