You have something there - I played for a QB that flat out had a Elway gun and he broke our fingers, split and lacerated webs of receivers fingers and in short passing game was just tough to catch.....

I belive Bledsoe broke web of a receivers hand and also was part of TO's injuries. He hated and could not handle a hard ball delivered.

Romo, like Montana and Brady, can get the ball in with touch. Sometimes Joe Fan deems that as a limpy armed noodle release but at end of Day Romo is getting ball to target accurate and catchable.

But combine shows Romo can zing it when he HAS to.....
It's funny you mentioned this, when I played flag football in my mid-twenties, there was this guy who weighed around 350, 5'9 (fat guy) he would simple throw the ball super early and lob it, but you had to run the route exactly as he called it, the guy was rarely intercepted, and threw touch downs like no body's business.

You can compensate on deep balls with lack of arm strenght by simply throwing it earlier and letting the receiver run under it, but you may have to fool the safety to pull this off, which Romo exeeds at.

Romo is great at looking off where he wants to throw. See the Fassano TD last game as classic.... And he has great touch and accuracy. Sometimes Joe Fan jumps the shark and infers he has poor arm strength - just saying.

and his recognition to release time is a lot faster than Warner... maybe on par with Marino tho definitely not the same.

That's what "quick release" means.

Outstanding thread guys, read every post. Agree with most everything said.

Just a few things I bellieve set him apart.

His ability to throw on the move is second to none. Very underrated skill. Montana was the best at it. I think Romo's just as good and its the one thing that really jumped out at me in that Seattle preseason game.

When you combine that skill with his pocket presence. OH BOY. Thats the killer. Moving right, left, and especially up in the pocket. Firing that ball down field accurately with his feet in motion. Thats special.

A thought came to me as I was reading this thread and the subject of his tremendous composure came up.

He looks like a guy who's been riding the bench for three years.

He's prepared, he appears to have played out various senarios hundreds, maybe thousands of times in his head.

I can make a comparable to my own life. I do some public speaking. My wife and others on occasion who have a fear of that marvel at how I handle it and how I'm always so calm.
My response is preparation. I always know exactly what I'm going to say and I'm 100% confident I'll handle any question on the topic.
Whats the big deal?

That's Romo in a nutshell. He's confident via preparation and exudes a whats the big deal attitude? We can only marvel.
