The argument over this guy is really simple. The name of the game is to outscore you opponent. If you answer honestly which tightend looks like theyd be able to score easily? Gathers! This preseason which tightend has caught the most passes? gathers! and in the least amount of playing time? Gathers? They didn't really play gathers until the fourth quarter! He played a play here and a play there in the third. Here is another thing. Who was Cooper rush's go to guy last preseason? gathers! Cooper rush went on a tear last preseason mostly because of Gathers! Now his goto guy is gone. I dare the coaches to let gathers start with cooper and play for a whole half. Let him play with Cooper for one quarter and with white for a quarter but he needs to play a half and let the other tightend play for a whole half. let's see how it looks. People keep saying these QBs suck but their offensive lines suck, all they are trying to do is impress and they have little to impress with. We are built to run and you got lineman out there who can even run block and they sure can't pass protect. Pro football focus was focused on something else. I don't know what they were looking at. Lastly, um going to play the look at other teams card. Slot of teams barely use their tightends to block or they have a tightend who does that and a tightend who pass catches. Tony Gonzalez really didn't block slot. Jimmy Graham doesn't block. Shannon Sharpe was terrible at blocking. I rarely see Kelce blocking or Greg Olsen. All I'm saying is if you can catch a lot of balls and score points , who cares about your blocking. That's is the main argument. All you can say is well in this team you have to block that's the problem. Is like no one can see or think outside the box. I'd be thinking if this guy can catch and score that easily maybe I can make an exception and use Him differently. It's like telling Dan Marino , I know you have a rocket arm and that you can throw the ball really well but since you can't throw to the left side in this area that I've circled for you I'm not going to let you play. You've thrown for more yards and had more completions than your competitors but that doesn't matter because you aren't hitting the areas that I've circled for you on this picture or diagram of the field. All um saying is who cares about these technicalities , you should be able to coach or work around the short comings if you see high potential, cause I'm sorry swaim and no other tightend has the potential this guy has if and when he can put it all together.
garrett's incompetency/possible power-game is the reason why a lot of us dont trust rico is getting a fair shot.
why do some want rico gone:
1. some blindly follow what garrett says even if it is inconsistent with what was said last preseason
2. some invested too much against rico and they now want him to fail
3. some cannot handle uncertainty and just want it to end
i have yet to hear a rational argument why:
1. rico is not the best fade/highpoint receiver since dez's prime
2. how a fade/highpoint receiver is not a critical advantage in red zone
3. how a red zone specialist is not good for a 3 down passing threat
4. why rico cannot be useful for both rushing downs and passing downs when lined up wide (or in the slot)
5. anyone would want any other tight-end to catch a critical pass
6. what stephen said rico's progress is false
