Monk has marginally more rec, and rec yrds and only because he played for 3 more seasons. Irvin was twice the rec Monk was...

So whos better, Emmitt or Barry Sanders??? I don't think the "he played longer" excuse really covers it. Why did he play longer??? Maybe he is tougher, maybe he has more heart, etc... That's why, in my book, how many years they played is not as important as what they accomplished.

I simply disagree with you. I've seen him terribly out of position in coverage, completely blowing his coverage responsibility. He also has a tendency to hurt his team by acting like a jack-A, on the field, and cost them yards with stupid penalties. This is the inconsistency I speak of. Roy Williams is over-rated, but not as over-rated as Sean Taylor. Just one man's opinion.

If he was consistently out of place, he would have been cut or traded. That is one thing that Gregg Williams does not tolerate. Ask LaVar.
Now, he does have a tendency to bite a bit on fakes, but he's also pretty young and that will (most likely) be fixed with age...

I guess by this simple logic, Art Monk should get into the HOF way before Irving. One was a great guy, the other was a law-breaking a-hole. Oh yeah, and Monk had better stats.
My point being is you take the high-and-mighty ground now, but talk about Irving and it's all about on the field production.
And show me a clip of a receiver ducking a tackle in order to not be hit by Roy Williams and then I'll believe the "put the fear in the heart of WRs". I can show you two clips of people ducking Taylor. One is the Arizona RB ducking a tackle one yard short of a first down on 4th down and the game on the line and the other is obviously Terry Glenn. Even the commentators said he had alligator arms.
And here's a novel idea! Maybe the reason why Roy's stats are so good his first couple of years is because he played along side Woodson and Taylor played along side Clark and Bowen. There's a slight difference there. And crap, you mean that the pro bowl is a popularity contest??? I mean, do you really mean that Michael Vick isn't the best QB in the NFC right now??? Wow, holy useless stats batman!

Pinkston actually looked for Roy before even reaching for the ball. I certainly remember Glenn running past Taylor on a play action fake.

see, that's the thing. I don't think he was consistently out of place, but for a safety being out of place just once can mean a huge play, to Todd Pinkston for example. And until he fixes that tendency to bite on fakes, he's still got that weakness. You can't just assume it's going to be fixed and rate him higher than he plays.

Thanks, I can't watch it now (at work), but I will when I get home. I wasn't trying to imply that you were making things up or anything, i just never have seen anyone duck RW. Then again, my experience watching Cowboys games is pretty limited.
And I didn't know that Stinkston ducked Taylor either. I was out all last season (2004).

So, RW is always in the perfect position to make a play??? Safeties will every so often give up a big play, nobody is perfect and ST will develop that part of his game as time comes. To ask a rookie/2nd year player to never bite on a fake and always be in position is absurd.
