I really get amused by those who slam a player because of his draft position - like he had anything at all to do with the team picking him at that spot.

I am not saying Willimas is great in coverage but I do believe that the Cowboys knew going in at that pick that his strength was not being able to cover like a FS but more of a force at the line of scrimmage.

Great point.

I really can't understand why people just won't accept the fact that the guy is average in coverage just like 90% of the other players that play his same position.

Nothing wrong with that. Every player has his weakness. Doesn't mean Roy Williams is a not a good players. He is still a very good player and brings alot to the table.

Becasue it's "in fashion" to throw him under the bus. The media loves the pile-on game and most posters here do the same. He has his limitations (like all football players), but he is still a very player.

I went through the Jets game and looked at the personnel groupings the Jets used and the defenses we were in. They had two tight ends and two wide receivers 14 times, and we used our base 3-4 on all 14 of those plays. They had no tight ends and four wide receivers on two plays, and we used our dime defense once and our 3-3 nickel once.

On the Jets' 36 other plays, they had one tight end and three wide receivers on the field (on 17 of those, the tight end was split wide, and on another, both the tight end and the running back were split wide). We used the single safety defense on seven of those 36 three-receiver plays (two of those could have been because we used it once and the Jets used a hurry-up offense so we didn't substitute until after two more plays). We were in the dime defense for 23 of those plays, the 3-3 nickel for three plays and the base 3-4 for three plays. All of the single-safety sets came in the first half, and none of them came on third down.
