Choice-To-Chargers Rumors Seem Unfounded

Thought it was interesting we received mailbag questions all week asking about a supposed trade between the Cowboys and Chargers, exchanging Tashard Choice for cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

The Chargers are apparently in the running back market since LaDanian Tomlinson doesn't expect to be back. And Choice has expressed some frustration with his limited role here. But as of now, there's no reason to believe the teams have discussed a trade.

According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the rumor was started by an unreliable source - sports talk radio.

Much of Valley Ranch is empty at this time, with coaches taking off and the executive department down in Miami for Super Bowl week, but of the poking around I've done this morning, no one seems to know anything about a trade.

So it appears that's that. For now at least.

The ONLY way I would say to take the trade is if Choice's role on this team remains the same. He needs to be utilized more in order to keep him.

I don't know.. I've always felt Choice, our third choice at running back would wind up being our top and only choice left time it was all said 'n done. And all it really takes is us getting over Barber as pretending to be the real deal as a starter and one more injury from Felix and the rest could be history. We need to keep Choice.

I'm all for acquiring good corners and stuff, but I don't see how Cromartie would fit in here.

I know this rumor is unfounded -- and I hope it remains that way.

its true, the Chargers GM and Jerry Jones both spoke with Shuan Phillips and let him know all the details

Phillips has a little-known clause in his contract that requires the Chargers to clear all personnel moves with him...
