Why? Well have Murray, Dunbar and Randle all back. Unless I'm wrong on Dunbar.

Murray will be headed into the last year of his contract and we give little to no reps to Randle and Dunbar. We still have to see how Dunbar plays coming off surgery. Based off of Murray's final year, we may end up drafting a RB.

Not my first choice but I wouldn't rule one out.

Not mine either. We need to take care of our Dline first and foremost. I don't see us extending Murray, and I don't believe our FO is sold on Randle just yet.

Next year is Murry's last year on his rookie contract and he becomes a free agent..........obviously you are not going to sign both backs to new contracts so it would be replacing Murray with CJ.

I think you have to look at how he's performed recently. In the last 3 seasons, he's been okay, but nothing to shout naked in the woods about. Roughly 4 yds/carry, about 5 TDs a year. Still has that's great breakaway speed, but I think you find someone to give you similar production either through the draft, or with another FA that won't demand what he will. If he's willing to get released instead of taking a cut from 8 mill, he's likely gonna see himself as a number one, and want to get paid like a number one. We don't have the space. I understand your point about Murray being a FA after next year, so the thought would be that you have to pay somebody, but I don't think you do. RB is (arguably) the most dispensable position in the NFL. You can find good ones late in the draft pretty much every year. If we need to pay somebody, I'd rather it be a player of a different position. Besides, like you say, it's not like we really use the running game like we should anyway. And given that, hard to see CJ even wanting to come here.

Just my .02

He's awful. He's turning 30. Why would anybody want him? The only thing he had going for him was his speed/explosion and that will disappear just like that over the next few months / until next year. Don't know too many 30+ year old guys being considered the fastest/most explosive guys in the league. CJ is done. He had a couple great years behind a great O-Line but that's over with. Stick a fork in him.

I wouldnt call him done, but that day is coming and I agree with you that I dont want him. This guy would be a terrible signing, so it might be something that Coach/GM Jones looks into.

I must say though, I think I judge him more harshly than many because a few years ago I took him # 1 overall in one of my leagues and it was the year he got off to a horrible start. He was dreadful for several games and put me in a hole I never got out of. Thus, the hatred. ;)

I think it's highly unlikely that CJ doesn't land a starting job someplace. The Browns, Jaguars, Dolphins, etc., will be looking hard at free-agent running backs and there will be some good ones on the market.

We're already saying Murray doesn't get the ball enough, how would we have enough for Murray and another back like CJ?

I ain't so good at numbers, but what number comes after 28? Is it 30?
Clearly I was totally wrong here, my bad. Sign the kid, he's got his whole career ahead of him still. *smh*

So, then draft a rb next year. So because we give little to no reps for Randle and Dunbar, because we automatically draft another rb, he gets reps? RB depth is last behind DT, DE, LB, S, OG, QB.

No, but I would draft a RB in the second or third so that we can let Murray walk. Running backs are too easy to find to pay him big money with his injury history.

With that said if only we took Lacy over Escobar....

Really? Wow. I guess DT, DE, LB is no big deal.

Hard to give Dunbar reps when he has spent most of the season hurt.

And perhaps Randle wasn't ready for the reps? He played while Murray was out and didn't look so good. Can he still develop? You bet. But it's no guarantee. The coaches that would have an idea if he's ready are the ones that didnt give him reps.

Then we should draft a rb in the 1st, why wait until the 2nd or 3rd?

When you're ready to stop putting words in my mouth and pay attention I'll waste my time replying to you. Until then you can just talk to yourself.
