This is what Jones said:

This says to me that Jason Garrett is not designing the offense but rather Linehan and Callahan are. He did not say that he had no input.

Another possible interpretation of this bit of Jerry-speak is that Jason will only jump in if things aren't going well.

He won't be cooking so it's only going to be after the fact that Jason will be changing the recipe. Not gonna how good it tastes (football-wise) until it's on display so this quote could mean that Bill and Linehan will be afforded the opportunity to install their game plans without Jason's say up until the point that their game plans aren't getting the job done, at which time Jason will come into the mix.

it sounds like jg playbook is out the door and that makes me happy. i have no problem with the hc having input on game day in certain situatiions.

If this thing is anything beyond a rumor, it's bonkers. A head coach is normally authorized to oversee all phases of the football team's functions on the field. If a coach is stripped of any offensive authority, he's being rendered ineffective for what would normally be a standard area of his responsibilities. If true, this bears all the earmarks of the beginning of the end for Garrett. It surely appears as though Jerry is basically setting Garrett up for his eventual termination. Only in Dallas could this be construed as standard procedure.

One other clarification. Jerry said Garrett was basically the OC last year. I take that to mean that he designed the offense, the weekly gameplan, etc. but on game day Callahan called the plays. Some are taking it to mean Garrett called the plays. Don't think so. In fact I think Jerry goes on to say how much freedom Romo had in the playcalling as well.

Now Linehan joins the mix and will author the offense including terminology I read somewhere. So last year was again Garrett's offense, Callahan calling plays, but this year the O is Linehan's and he's the playcaller.

It's really not a strange scenario if you were unhappy with the offensive production - like many were - and if you want Garrett out of the playcalling for game management purposes. They tried to let Callahan run Garrett's show - it didn't work. Could have let Callahan install and run his own offense but they opted instead to go with Linehan when he became available. Jerry is quoted as having said so.

I think the biggest change is the fact that they want the author of the offense to actually call the plays. And Garrett is disqualified because game management precludes him from playcalling. Not that some don't do both - but Dallas is obviously staying the course of keeping those two pieces separate.

You guys never cease to amaze. Everybody knows that you cant take what Jerry says seriously, yet like a bunch of old women you all dissect and analyze and try to read whats "really going on" based on quotes w/o knowing the context they were made in, and taking the word of idiots pumping out the garbage in print. Then you just continue building up all these scenarios in your lil minds and its all baseless drivel that its based on.

Original article is very flawed. It's not hard to grasp what is really going on, as already delineated by others in the thread.

I do think Jerry needs to lay off the bottle though.

Here's Jerry being asked about Jason's move to more defensive involvement.

http://www.dallascowboys.com/multim..._Defense/b0ff6127-2d60-4831-8d51-a202f7d9f1d5

1st question sounds like, "Jason won't have the last pencil down this year".

The response. "Correct. Not on offense".

Also talks about how the move towards defense will allow Jason to acquire a wealth of knowledge under the tutelage of Monte Kiffin.

More specifically, "a thorough indoctrination, thorough indoctrination of-uhh, Jason in that [Kiffin's philosophy]. Will really advance his cause being-a head coach"

Did I miss this? Why doesn't Jason just quit. It's embarrassing !!!

http://www.prosportsdaily.com/Headlines/ExternalArticle?articleId=291948

Not sure I get why Garrett should quit because of what this article reveals. Nowhere does it say Jones mandated that Garrett have no say in the offense. More than likely it was a condition of Linehan coming here since he would want to run the offense his way rather than simply running Garrett's, like Callahan did.

No top-notch coordinator would want to come in and have to simply run someone else's system.

Hey God...can you pass the same info onto Jerry?

Some draft prospects don't take part in drills at the NFL Combine due to injuries, but Adam Muema was healthy. His reason for departing from Indianapolis early was unique.

Muema, a running back who played at San Diego State, left the combine without participating in any running back drills because he said that God told him to. And apparently, if Muema followed God's wishes, he'd be taken by the Seattle Seahawks.

From U-T San Diego:

"Can't go wrong with God," Muema said.

[...]

Muema, 21, said his immediate plans are undecided.

"(God) told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace," he said.

Muema said he communicates with God through numbers.
