True. But I think more than half try to do their job with integrity.

You're right, but it's sad that the percentage is so low. That is why these guys are taking to Twitter and Instagram. They can get their message out without the media. It's get them into trouble though and they forget that there is the 'no take backs' rule.

I don't really understand the need to think something must be the reason for the "hesitation" other than a player and his agent seeking more long term than his team wants to pay.

It's really pretty simple and why you have negotiations. I'd prefer Dez being willing to pay for a handful of magic beans, but I think he wants a lot more than that.

So, pay him almost $13M on the cap versus half that................because, he's not that fast and limited in his ability to run route adjustments and whatnot. And, with these issues, he's averaged (including his rookie year when he missed 5 games) 81 catches, 1157 yards, and 12 TD's over 16 games since he came into the league. Seems like we know what he will do based on these numbers.

Dez is largely the product of the brilliance of Tony Romo. (And yes, Romo benefits from Dez, too.)

BELIEVE ME, the Cowboys are not unhappy that these rumors are out there. In fact, they may be behind them as a negotiating ploy.

2 years from now, when Dez is giving 1-2 word answers to every question throughout the entire season, the media will complain and make a stink. Noone will remember the day(s) hacks like Florio floated out garbage like this. Unfair to the athlete and unfair to the majority of the media who I believe try to do their job with integrity.

Yeah you can see why guys like Marshawn Lynch, Kevin Durant etc hate the media and don't want to talk to them so much. I really hate the way everyone got on Lynch's case about it. He doesn't really have to give you anything. I get that he is supposed to talk but he doesn't have to get specific with the media if he doesn't want to and that's exactly what he did.

I sure hope not. That would be low.

I think part of the problem, too, is the complete unwillingness of Dez' agent to negotiate anything.

I'd bet Jerry would gladly give Dez the contract he wants so long as it had built in contingencies regarding health and behavior clauses.

But Jay-Z, Condon, whoever is running this thing isn't budging much.

So the smart play is the franchise tag. Two years worth if needed.

Interesting to read how quickly fans blame the player and his representatives when a deal can't get done. CAA also represent Romo (RJ is a very good agent and guy) and Witten so the Jones family know they are dealing with capable people who they have struck big deals with before. Roc Nation Sports and its owner Shawn Carter merely handle marketing and endorsement matters for most of their clients including Dez. Not sure why Jay Z is getting thrown into the mix as a blame for no deal being completed yet...doubt he has much to do with day to day operations in the 1st place.

I still think a deal will be hashed out between the parties but as a fan hope it doesn't get more ugly due to these negotiating ploys (leaks of police visits to a home or homes Dez resides in, potential video existing that make Dez into Aaron Hernandez, etc.)

some of you guys are real pathetic. i guess you'd prefer to go back to the days pre-dez when we had robots littered across this roster ready and willing to bend down and take it from the giants.

Dismantling the best team this FO has put together in almost a decade is apparently ok because it's....cheaper? I don't want salary cap space...I want a Lombardi.

Who cares about the future if it's just more of the past. Not me.

You have described how most of America gets " fooled by the report" and misses the fact that the original allegation bears little resemblance to the final outcome. Then someone will blurt out " see we were right" and miss the whole point of the sensationalism and actuality of the event....

Believe it or not you can build a SB winner that remains a contender for years to come if you have cap space. I want a Lombardi to, then I want another shortly after.

A lot of people are not really reading Florio’s comments. I heard it live, so let me kind of explain, if it hasn’t already been explained.

Pretext: The two hosts, Shan and Rj, had heard some rumors that there may be some underlying story that no one has heard of that is keeping Dallas from signing Dez. Both hosts had received texts that something was going on, but never really knew what that ‘something’ was. They stated this on THURSDAY, but were careful not to carelessly speculate, but a big part of their discussion was whether or not national personalities knew something that they, the local guys, did not. Mack Engel expressed that the national guys typically have closer ties to NFL execs and get to hear chatter that most local guys don’t.

FLORIO
So when Florio chimed in for his weekly radio segment, the local hosts, Shan & Rj, asked him if he had heard anything.

So Florio actually just shared what the rumor was around the national media guys… the underlying story that the national media guys have been circulating but not publishing because it has yet to be corroborated.

That underlying story was the possibility of a video tape’s existence. Florio did not speculate as to what the video tape could be, but he somewhat carelessly mentioned it in the same light as the Ray Rice tape.

But he stated NUMEROUS times that he had no idea if the tape even existed, he was simply answering the question of “What’s the rumor about”. He actually stated a couple of times that he DOUBTS that it existed because of how long it's been searched for... for example, when the story broke about the 6 police incidents that amounted to nothing, Rappaport was actually looking for "the tape".
