I can't believe you're seriously pushing this.

Bobby Carpenter (round 1) starts over Bradie James (round 4) huh?

Doug Free (round 4) starts over Kyle Kosier (round 7) huh?

Martellus Bennett (round 2) starts over Jason Witten (round 3) huh?

Patrick Crayton (round 7) starts over Miles Austin (undrafted) huh?

Stephen McGee (4th round) starts over Tony Romo (undrafted) huh?

Mike Hamlin (4th round) starts over Gerald Sensabaugh (5th round) huh?

Care to try again? With a relevant thought this time?

That is one way to ensure Wade is gone at the end of the season.

Yeah, I have a thought. If the running game isn't working but the passing game, particularly to Austin is, why should he continue to run it?

I am a huge fan of ball control and power running games, but you go with what is working. If the runs aren't there and the pass is, pass the ball. Tony Romo was connecting on 72% of his passes, did not throw a pick, and averaged over 10 yards per attempt.

It was really stupid for him to keep passing huh?

common sense isn't all the common these days huh?

Felix(the running game) provided the only turn over the other day.

I agree with everyone in that you take what is open. If it is the the inside running game, you go with that. IF it is the outside running game, you go with that. If it is the long pass, you go with that. If it is quick, short passing routes, you go with that. You mix several things together to keep the D off balance and stick with what is working that day. That will change week to week.

If we can run the ball successfully, .. Tony will be throwing the ball well.

Funny how that works.

Yes, exactly like it happened in the Giants game. Oh, wait a minute...

I keep hearing about Miles Austin, Roy Williams et al. But we need to control the clock against Seattle. I want to see us running the ball more. We were great in the passing game against Atlanta, and we needed to be. However, for this game I think we need to utilize our three-headed monster and pound the Seattle defense with our running game. I'd like to see 65% running plays.

With Austin having so much success, defenses aren't going to key up too much on the running game so that's where I think we need to focus. If we can get the chains moving by running the ball successfully, I think we can beat Seattle and improve to a 5-2 record.

Thoughts?
65%?!?!?!

So 2 out of 3 plays have to be runs....?

I doubt that's been done by any team in any game in the past 20-30 years in the NFL.

Throw the ball, throw, throw, throw it. Every down no matter distance. Throw the ball even when on defense.

Just throw it baby!!

Just messing w/you OP. :D

Not a fan of taking what the defense gives you (hate that phrase, so cliched), but winning is the goal, do whatever it takes. Enforcing your will w/a balanced offense will shut up the mediots, but winning is the most important thing.

It's not really a cliche'.

Most NFL defenses can stop the run for example if they are willing to sell out to do so.

So to continue to try to run the ball is not smart. You are playing right into their hands.

And if they are taking your run away then they are probably giving you the pass in some way shape or form, .. thus the "maybe overused" term, taking what the defense gives you.

It really is smart football.

Agreed though, winning is what is all boils down to.

Sorry, but the phrase "take what the defense gives you" is a cliche. Its also passive, and I have an aggressive personality. Passivity gives me a rash.

Don't get me wrong; I don't think it was stupid to keep passing. I'm just arguing it's safer to run the ball to open up the pass rather than risk Romo throwing a pick. I'm Romo's biggest fan, but I also think we can have much success on the ground against Seattle. It will also serve to open up the pass. If they come into this game having studied the Atlanta tape, then I think we can successfully change it up by running. I also liked having Felix motion out to WR. If we run plays like that, I think we can confuse them as to what we're going to do because we have the ability to be so flexible. Yet I think the good 'ole running game can be the key factor to winning this game.

Of course, it all depends on what the situation calls for. I just have a feeling we need to keep somewhat of a leash on Tony and run the ball. We have a great running game, and I don't think it would be 'stupid' to go in with that as plan A and switch to plan B if need be.

Our only turnover came in the running game last week. (Felix fumble)

I say you go with what the defense gives you. If they are weak in a certain area, attack it. It gives you more opportunities to possess the ball and score when you have it.

Did you happen to miss the Giants game?

We racked up over 200+ yards on the run and Romo had 3 picks.

One thing does not always lead to the other.

I think we should stick to being fans and let the coaches stick to running the team. Most of y'all have no idea what your talking about but for some reason think you know better than a NFL coach. Its funny to me....

I don't think any team should go into a game in today's NFL syaing we're going to run the ball 65% of the time. That's just not winning strategy.

It seemed that was Parcells' strategy when he was here. But I agree. Go with what works. I just think we should focus on running until the pass opens up.

If the run is there and the pass isn't... fine. Then run the ball. But I wouldn't game plan for that kind of distribution.

I would prepare for both. If it were me, I would practice a number of running plays with Choice. He has fresh legs and we need to get Barber back to 100%.

Running with our backs and our line is smart, imo. Against the Giants, everyone was bellyaching about not running the ball. IMO, we need to do so in order to control the clock and then come up with big plays. Sure, we have a hefty passing game. But if we come out guns a blazin' they can take that away just as well.

What I'm saying is they're probably more worried about our passing game at this point, with the emergence of Austin, than they are our running game. I say we give them a dose of Felix and Choice, but I have a feeling Barber will get the bulk of whatever percentage of carries.

65% was just an arbitrary number; I just want to see some running plays. Not that we haven't done it, but I think if we continue to let Romo air it out we'll eventually pay for it.

Not to be cliche', but run to set up the pass is what I'm sayin'.

Naw'm sayin'?

Then why call him out in the thread title as if he doesn't have any idea what he is doing?

I wasn't calling him out. It was a command of sorts, a wish, a hope... You're reading into it too much. I like Garrett. I've never dissed him. He's not perfect, but I like him. I have to. He's our next head coach.
