Running Backs - who is 2?

I hope im wrong but Blue may never get serious playing time here in the regular season.

You just dont risk getting your starting QB decapitated nor risk fumbling at a critical time.

I really wonder if they did their due diligence in scouting him?

Mafah will play special teams and probably not get a ton of carries, but I think if Williams goes down you see Mafah move up to a 50/50 split with Blue. I don't think you want Blue carrying the ball 20 times in a game ... ever.

Davis is easily the #2 at this point.
 
It all depends on what the mindset Blue worked on this offseason. Is he the entitled, coddled UT RB wearing Louis Vuitton cleats? Or has he started to realize this is a job?

Supposedly the staff like Mafah a lot and I’m quite confident that stashed him as injured last year not to lose him.
 
What happened to Phil Mafah?

as a back-up and at the right price, I would not oppose Alvin Kamara.

Sidenote: Kamara has never had a 1,000 yard rushing season.

Im worried about #1
Williams was playing for a contract last year
We have been burnt multiple times by this exact thing
Hopefully he is not ‘hurt’ and missing games by November or this team is going nowhere

Yep. Shoulda grabbed one in the 4th instead of the project OT. When's the last time a 4th round OT panned out for this team? Doug Free!

I think offense could find its way to another level if Blue can be something remotely close to what he was supposed to be. I’m not going to pretend to know exactly what his issue is/are, but I know it’s not about running with the ball in hand, and it’s perplexing.

Pass protection is what I would think, also has fumbling issues

Right now, the only one who has proven anything besides Javonte is Malik Davis. I would like for us to have better than that at the No. 2 spot, but to Davis' credit, he did average 4.8 YPG in his limited backup role.

Blue has better speed and Mafah has better physicality, but right now, Davis is the better pro.
 
Right now it’s Davis #2 and the two rookies (from last year of course) fighting for a roster spot. But it’s May. I’m sure the team hopes both of the young guys pass him between now and week 1. Personally, until proven otherwise, I’m going with the guy who has done it in the real games and who no matter how many times we try to move on from him keeps proving he is better than the guys we keep instead of him. Again, it’s May. We have a whole off-season to figure it out and this team seems to be more about competition than we have seen in a long time, so I think the roles will be won and lost on the field like they should be

This!! We have an adequate stable unless injury. There is only one ball to go around. I am letting Blue, Mafah & new kid get most of the work in camp & pre-season. Keep Williams fresh.

Fish went through this today, they want Blue to be the # 2, but he needs to earn it.
also he said they are fine with what they have currently.

I'm not saying Blue is King Henry, but Henry was mostly red shirted his first NFL season.
