This is amazing that Ukraine is doing it and so sad for all of the families involved. It's horrible that Ukraine cares more about the soldiers invading them than the Russia government does.

It is sad. Before Putin went off the deep end those countries were like brothers to the citizens. Russia being the bigger one but the people are largely the same group of people separated by an imaginary boundary.
They share a lot the same culture/way of life.

My wife/her family get no joy over seeing dead Russian soldiers even though they are destroying their home country.

In some ways Ukrainians are simply Russians who had an opportunity to escape communism and enjoy a free society. Well, Putin couldn’t have the Russian people see that so close and believe it was an option for them too.

McDonald's To Temporarily Close Restaurants & Pause Operations in Russia

Working closely in consultation with our Chairman, Rick Hernandez, and the rest of McDonald’s Board of Directors over the last week, McDonald’s has decided to temporarily close all our restaurants in Russia and pause all operations in the market. We understand the impact this will have on our Russian colleagues and partners, which is why we are prepared to support all three legs of the stool in Ukraine and Russia. This includes salary continuation for all McDonald’s employees in Russia.

***, their country invades and murders people in another country and these Russians get a paid vacation from it ? That’s a heck of a consequence to pay. McDonald’s leadership maybe should stick with what to include in Happy Meals.

I've come across several articles denoting the speed at which weaponry and other aid have been delivered to Ukraine and its military...

Stunningly fast.

And it seems to have played a big part already (considering this is what? 14 days old?) in helping stymie the Russian advance.

No way Putin could have figured the speed of aid into the equation.

I think the West can produce anti-armour/anti-aircraft weaponry faster than the Russians can make it, which could be one of the deciding factors.

Also big advantage for Ukraine that they do buttress against several friendly countries where supplies and aid can be funneled through quickly.

He thought he had another Crimea.

He thought the people would just lay down and capitulate.

He also thought that other countries would just let him do what he wants and that there would be no consequences because he has done it before.

Wonder what type of tale Putin will weave for his people's inability to enjoy a Big Mac? Putin is doing his best to deter factual information reaching his citizens but there must be a breakeven point where even the most clueless people begin to realize what he is shoveling ain't the truth.

Citizen: All the McDonalds have closed.
Putin: That's right. McDonalds is against Mother Russia.
Citizen: But you said we are freeing Ukraine from the *****. Are you now saying McDonalds has sided with the *****?
Putin: Whatever floats your boat.
Citizen: huh?
Putin: Big Macs are not healthy anyway. How about vodka instead, Da?

Zelensky addressed the British House of Commons, quoted Shakespeare and then went full Winston Churchill......

“The question for us now is to be or not to be. Oh no, this Shakespearean question. For 13 days this question could have been asked but now I can give you a definitive answer. It’s definitely yes, to be.

“And I would like to remind you the words that the United Kingdom have already heard, which are important again. We will not give up and we will not lose.

“We will fight until the end, at sea, in the air. We will continue fighting for our land, whatever the cost.

“We will fight in the forests, in the fields, on the shores, in the streets.

Ukraine Government should make a offer to Russian soldiers who wish to defect. 12 month rent free stay post war etc etc if you defect now, should also offer to accept their wives and children, there will also be construction jobs available in future, eww could you imagine Putin's face if they defected. You use all the tools you have or you lose.

He really did think it was going to be quick. Several days ago I saw pics of some destroyed and abandoned military vehicles. The supply trucks were carrying riot gear, riot shields, helmets, batons etc, not exactly the kind of things they would need during a war.

They already did a week or so ago, offered money for their defection. I'm not sure what else was part of that offer.

KFC also still operating there, as far as I know. I read that they have 1000 locations in Russia, more than McD.
