The triggers for WWIII are Estonia and Latvia. These are the most vulnerable NATO nations. A power-hungry dictator like Putin may find these nations irresistible while he is exercising his military strength on portions of Ukraine. NATO article 5 will be defended... an attack on one is an attack on all.

Also, it could be in case he "accidentally" hits a location in Poland near Ukraine.

I've been refamiliarizing myself with World War II history through documentaries and seminars and the parallels between Hitler, Putin, and some other modern day leaders is pretty scary. I can't help but feel that history is repeating itself. And not in a good way.

Those that don't learn history are doomed to repeat it is what a history teacher once taught me.

May I post a song by Iron Maiden? It was released around the time of the Gulf War and I think it might fit this moment.

I would be concerned with that leading to a limited nuclear exchange.

I don't think Putin wants a ground war vs. NATO.

I don't either, and I think his statements indicate that. Just my thoughts, but we may want as people to consider getting things like Iodine. If Putin reacts in the way I think his threat indicated, iodine is critical to counteract radiation poisoning. I learned that on the game fallout, but I think we may want to consider dragging out things like that in case that is the true intention of Putin.

1. The u.s. is a representative republic or whatever the term is, the world is not.
2. Ukraine is not our ally and we have no obligation.
3. Whether I or anyone agrees or not, putin has a claim to go because a fraction want him to

Sanctions are evil. Putin and the government will be rich until they die. It will only hurt and cripple the Russian people not the leaders.

Freezing people's money, crippling with fines is bad. It is happening north of us.

I predict Russia gets Ukraine, there will be lots of talk and bad things for awhile, there will be a deal made, the only people that are hurt financially and physically are normal people including the west, and Russian leaders and major corporations gain money and resources.

If we really wanted to cripple Russia, we would open american energy back up, fund Venezuela to get going back and full tilt with no interest, and form a north American engery powerhouse and sell to our allies, and shutout everyone else

I'm not sure he'd lose given the state of NATO at the moment.

The Russian military isn't what it was 40 years ago...

On top of that even if the Russian land forces pushed into NATO held territory, it unleashes air and sea capabilities of NATO and Russia comes up short there– And given some time to mobilize Russia's land forces would be overwhelmed also.

The positive side of me wants to say: The only good that comes from this is Putin miscalculates how fed up his people are with him and unintentionally ignites his own overthrow. The negative side of me says: He’ll just lock up and kill all dissent.

The positive side of me wants to say: Nothing unites our divided country more than a common foe, maybe this will be what heals the divide. The negative side of me wants to say: It takes a freaking nuclear war to set us straight, only when we see the flash will we realize how pointless it all was.

The positive side of me wants to say: This will finally ignite the country and world to see Putin for what he is. The negative side of me says: China is watching very closely and taking notes for its plan to invade Taiwan. This is only the beginning…

True, energy earnings is what fuels Russia's economy AND the oligarchs and Putin. And their gas and oil is what Europe pretty much sold their souls for. Thatcher decades ago warned this would happen.

How are the citizens armed? I believe they turned their guns in.

No, there are gun shops throughout Ukraine. The Ukrainian Parliament also passed a law allowing citizens to carry guns outside their homes. The Ukrainians are tough people. Tough people who are armed can inflict a lot of pain.

I love this story about 13 Ukrainians defending a tiny island. A Russian warship told them to surrender. They knew they would be killed if they didn’t, but still told the Russians to “go F-yourselves”. That’s like the Alamo. Legendary.

Even after **** Germany captured Ukraine in early WWII, the partisan efforts behind the German front line was widespread and destructive.
