The Saints were interested in Keith Davis, so obviously they thought he was better than Dwight Smith. Why would we want to sign someone who they don't believe is as good as Davis?

woh their it almost seems like your saying keith davis is better than dwight smith... I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say you didnt really mean that or you have been drinking....

They probably wanted davis to play SS.
They can let Smith go because they drafted Bullocks last year and therefore have a young talented FS to replace smith

Smith, IIRC, was playing some corner in his early days in Tampa. Not many CB's make good SS's.

I don't understand why someone would sign Smith and then spend a 2nd round pick on Josh Bullocks. I think New Orleans could have still moved Smith to CB. He might have been able to win a starting job.

The only explanation I can come up with is that they are the Saints.

I am still pissed at them for drafting Bullocks. Imagine if we had been able to pick him up instead of Burnett last year...
