After only four games, you are assuming that the coin will always come up heads.
What's your definition for yourself?
I'm not assuming anymore.

It may not happen with this group, Slate can call me insane, Rampage can do whatever it is that he does, but I'm gonna go down with this ship if need be.
SLATEmosphere;2991581 said:You don't HAVE to go down with the ship just to be a true fan. I think that's where we disagree.
Let's say your kid is constantly getting into trouble. Your in denial about it and think he never does anything wrong. It doesn't mean you care about them any less if you take action on it and confront them.
Do you even listen to yourself?SLATEmosphere;2991520 said:Right.
The coin is the team.
Tails is the optimistic success of our team.
Assuming it will always come up tails is the blind homers.
Insanity.

Cool.
So... what are you NOT assuming about the team ..?SLATEmosphere;2991585 said:Never said I did. But I can get a pretty good idea after watching this team for 10 years.
I'm not above making changes if need be, but I can't see much good of making wholesale changes in the middle of the season.SLATEmosphere;2991581 said:You don't HAVE to go down with the ship just to be a true fan. I think that's where we disagree.

Does anyone ever consider that the #1 defense in the NFL just proved to us that they are legitimately #1?
Does anyone ever consider that we're still a very good team, but like the NYG loss, we lost to a better team? and this one on the road at the end of the game?
Why do so many people think we're the greatest team around, but poorly coached or underachieving?
To me, this was a very hard fought defensive game, and the #1 defense in the NFL did just enough to beat the Dallas Cowboys and hold us off at the 1 yard line with our top receiver out of the game.
We're 2-2, and our two losses were to two undefeated teams, both losses coming at the end of the game.
I'm not happy with losing, and I'm not trying to look on the bright side, but unless you are simply deluded enough to think the Cowboys are the best team in the NFL, but the coach and/or owner-gm are holding them back, then this is just the way it goes some weeks.
Washington has an identical 2-2 record, but every team they've played had 0 wins when they played them. StL and TB are both still winless, while Detroit's only win was against the Skins. The Cowboys have two very tight losses against teams that are both 4-0.
I'm not throwing in the towel yet.
...annnnd since you believe that the team cannot put together a consistent stretch of good football......?SLATEmosphere;2991602 said:That they will put together a consistent stretch of good football.
yeah!bbgun;2991615 said:"But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play?"
Sorry, but this isn't the time for "silver linings" or "moral victories," only well-directed anger. We played the Broncos today, not the '85 Bears. Maybe you prefer to hang your hat on the fact that we're undefeated against winless teams this year. Just don't expect the rest of us to be impressed. If the "cynics" have to hold their tongue after a win, then the cheerleaders should be held to the same standard. If you want to see the sunny side in all of this, then by all means do so. But don't start an obnoxious thread telling the rest of us not to "complain," or insinuate that our critiques aren't sophisticated or nuanced enough. You're not the only one with rights around here.

Come on, Slate. I have faith in you.

I want to know too.JonJon;2991635 said:Since when did it become acceptable to lose to good teams?
No prob, but you may as well be honest with yourself about it, right?SLATEmosphere;2991639 said:I never thought I would be like this. I've always tried to be optimistic but man this team has let me down so many times. I mean, 12-12 in our last 24 games?
RainMan;2991648 said:Hey, at least we didn't lose 44-6, right? Oh, and we've got a cool stadium waiting for us in a few weeks.
