I don't get the obsession with Dak this Dak that. He plays 1 position on the team of 22 starters. It's the biggest position sure, but we need a lot more then just him to win in the playoffs. Football is and always will be a team game. The train I'm talking about is the Cowboys are a very good team. I think what is happening is haters are starting to see that this team is, for the first time in ALONG time, a very complete unit...and they are getting spooked...burning all their evidence of their pure hate for everything that is...Cowboy football. That way, when the Cowboys go out and beat the 49ers they can have their "I told you so" moment. Is this thread your I told you so thread?
Absolutely not. There are a lot of variables that can affect the outcome of the game. I just think that the key in this game that is upcoming is that Purdy has enjoyed the same success that Dak did in his first year- being able to play in a great offense with a very good running back, but he has also enjoyed subpar competition until now.
I think the key in this game will be Dan Quinn and the defense able to rattle Purdy.
But if they can't, this could easily go the other way.

The truth is, while I am holding on to this hope, this thing going south and turning on the Cowboys is weighing heavy on my mind.
I choose to believe that Dan Quinn and the defense will be the difference in this game because I think Purdy is experiencing real questions in his own mind this week as Dallas comes to town, as to whether or not he can handle it.
My prediction is mainly premised upon the collapse of Brock Purdy and the ability of the Cowboys to stop the run once that happens. That the 49'ers are a pretty good team goes without saying, but how good we don't really know because they have not played anyone of consequence.
But I don't think Dak can withstand the pressure if things start going south for the Cowboys. I do think he'll play pretty well as long as the Cowboys gain the momentum early.
We'll see.

They're not, but I love that we're the underdog here

We CAN win this game. But it's definitely going to be a slugfest if we do
Would not expect anything less. It will be good getting back to SF seems like over the years it has produced some classic games, not all good but often times has resulted in one of the 2 making it to the SB. Be it the 70's or the 90's. This Cowboys team has the chance to make name for themselves in Cowboys history.

Long term Cowboys fans like myself don't need a train or a bandwagon; we've been here all along. We're just at a pause; waiting to see what happens next. There are a lot of variables; things we probably took for granted 40 years ago, but now we see more prevalent in the NFL.
I think the Cowboys solved a huge problem when they hired Mike McCarthy. His leadership is making the Cowboys better, and some of the disappointments of the past are no longer happening. From our point of view, there are other things that must be corrected, but there will never be a perfect team.
It may be that we have to accept that the Cowboys will never again be the team we grew up loving, but at least they have a real head coach now.
And I will say this: Even though I know Dak will shut down under pressure, it is still a joy when he is feeling loose and getting to watch the completions in the passing game. I just wish he could be that guy that shoulders the team when they need it.

They look good, even dominant, but they haven't played any of the top teams except Kansas City.
Kansas City wiped the floor with them, 44-23.
While Brock Purdy's success makes for a feel good story- and it should- the 49'ers will miss Garappolo Sunday night. Purdy and the Niners have feasted on sub par opponents, but now Purdy has to face the Dallas Cowboys- and all that a complete team has to offer.
The Cowboys won't fold in the third quarter. When the second half starts, Dan Quinn's adjustments will crunch the dreams of a rookie quarterback who has become accustomed to sub .500 teams who run out of gas after they play a close first half. Purdy will find that the Cowboys secondary doesn't lay down. I predict that it will be the 49'ers offense that runs out of gas this time.
So the only question is how the Cowboys offense will fare against the Niner defense. And that will break the hearts of Niner fans. Not only will Pollard and Elliot have great games, but the defense of the Cowboys will add to that with turnovers that assist the offense. With all of that, Dak will play loose, and will have some big plays.
Cowboys 34, 49'ers 14.
And I believe that the Giants WILL beat the Eagles.
Prescot and the Boys have played down to their competition all year long and if Prescot comes into this game and starts off slow it could be over quickly. I have to admit I've been on Prescot's *** all season long because of his slow starts and if he is to lead this team to a victory against the 9ers he's got to come into this game on fire because you can bet the 9ers are going to dig deep into their bag of tricks to get a big lead on the Boys.

McCarthy and Moore both saw early on last night that putting the onus on Dak early was a mistake. It was only after they switched to the running game that the Cowboys moved the ball, and after that Dak loosened up and had a great game.
This is what I posted last week and have been stressing: For the Cowboys offense to excel and get Dak to play great, he needs to believe that he is a complimentary part of the offense, not the leader. When he doesn't feel pressure to lead, he relaxes and makes some great plays.
So if McCarthy and Moore will convince him that they are counting on the run and let him be more relaxed, he should play very well.

I heard SF was a paper tiger last year when they came into the Death star and waxed the Cowboys.....

It's Purdys running ability that worries me,we have a hard time stopping running QBs.
This is the challenge. The remaining NFC teams all have great running QBs. We have tackle them when we get a chance and not let him escape. I hate when Jones or Hurts turns a sack into an 8 yard gain.

That paper tiger "out-physicalled" us last year and pushed us all over the field and dominated us in the trenches and sent us home.
And despite all that, everyone saying we got waxed, we played terrible, got pushed around start to finish on both side of the ball, gave them 4 first downs from penalties en route to 14 in total, have the worst QB in the modern era, and coaches who made constant errors the entire game - we had the ball on the 50 with a chance to win at the end. Imagine if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot all game?

Maybe some forgot the beating they gave us in the playoffs. Until this team shows up, the advantage goes to the 9ers.

They did and we had 14 penalties. Can't beat anyone doing that.

We have been low penalties for a while now...this will be a great match up.

I feel like we can definitely win it.
A lot of penalties don't just happen. SF forced the holding penalties.

But I agree, if we can figure out where the line of scrimmage is (3 offsides penalties last time) and avoid the pre-snap stuff (4 of those too), that'll help.

It wouldn't be that way with Garappolo, but the rookie will feel the heat.
Quinn should be able to rattle him. I think the game will come down to how Purdy handles the Cowboys defense, and I give Quinn the advantage.
But they've been able to protect Purdy by pounding the rock and quickly getting the ball to their playmakers......that's why they been so successful with him at QB. Take an early lead and stop the run and force the 49ers to get out of their comfort zone on offense! Then we'll see how the rook handles the heat!

So instead of just enjoying the ride you are going to decide to remind everyone on the train that you don't like Dak and secretly are hoping he fails to help your agenda. Get off. Good luck on your hill...

They have one of the best coaching staffs in the league and elite skill position talent. The only way we have a chance is if we can get to Purdy and make him look like Mr Irrelevant. I hope they watch film on all of Purdy's bad games at Iowa State

I'm not hoping he fails. On the contrary, I know by now what to expect from Dak, and since it's apparent he is the quarterback of the Cowboys, I am hoping that Kellen Moore and Mike McCarthy have learned how to deal with his traits.
Anyone that has ever led men knows what it's like to have someone who isn't exactly what you prefer, but if you learn to work to their strengths, you can get the best out of them. In Dak's case, it's simply keeping the focus of the offense off of him so he doesn't feel the pressure, and then he plays great when he is relaxed. It doesn't mean you won't still have issues, but you work to minimize them.
That's the way I look at Dak.

No team led by a rookie QB is going to beat our Cowboys in the playoffs! That's just not happening!

Their D is good. But how good? They have not exactly been beating a bunch of elite teams.

The last elite team they faced (KC) beat them pretty bad.

They are obviously better than the Bucs. This won't be easy. But I would say we have a very good chance at winning this game.

Minimize turnovers. Preferably none. Get to Purdy. Make him try and play from behind. Avoid 3rd and long situations on offense. Run the ball if we have the lead. Points will be critical. Maher needs an improved game.
Everyone likes to bring up the KC game. 9ers were missing guys on offense and atleast a half dozen guys on D. CMC just got there.
