I believe Sanchez can be effective with the right play calls. The offense will look different when Dak, Zeke, Dez and other starters get pulled. We'll get to see how deep this roster really is.

Sanchez has had a lot more playoff success than Romo. I hope he's our back-up in January as well

So, he must be a better QB than Romo... :lmao2:

How is their best backup QB NOT Romo? It's absurdly obvious that Tony is.

So, the team is saying what? In the event Dak is rocked in the playoffs and can't continue - they have blind faith that Tony will immediately overcome the rust and their main concern is the backup-to-the-backup? Or do they honestly believe that Sanchez gives them more hope at backup than Tony?

This is just multi-level stupid.

don't think the Cowboys really care about his next teams line situation, im sure theyre more worried with who can replace Dak in the playoffs if needed

If Sanchez is going to replace Dak on Sunday the Cowboys might as well use him in the playoffs if he's needed because he's going to be the most prepared to play.

What a stunning development. Some fans are advocating using Sanchez as the backup over Tony Romo. I'm absolutely rendered speechless by this outbreak of collective ... Again - speechless.

Game reps are essential to getting players sharp which is why teams risk their starters in preseason games. I can't see Romo playing very good if he's needed in the playoffs without being given the chance to sharpen his game up first. It won't take long before he suffers his first turnover if he does have to play.

Well seeing as Philly likes to hurt Romo and our starting OL will be missing the most important piece I think it's very smart not to play Romo

1 Partial game wont help much, in 2015 Tony played the whole miami game, did ok, then next week played poorly, as the rust showed
against a good defense.

If Tony has to relieve Dak, he is just going to have to wing it lol.
Most bkups dont get any real playing time and have to just step in and get it done, Tony can do it as good as they can.
Lets just hope Dak has no injuries etc.

Dallas coaches have made the decision, so nothing we can do.

I think if Sanchez played 35 games this season he would still be a worse option than Romo

I agree a partial game and not even a full game is going to work off all the rust and sharpen him up but it's better than nothing. Miami wasn't a very good team and Romo got by with a decent game. He tossed a couple of picks and finished with a passer rating of 83.5. He had some loose throws in that game and you could see he wasn't sharp. Against a great Carolina team the following week that had a strong pass rush his rust really showed up and it led to a meltdown. The game got put on him and it was a complete disaster. If he has to play in the playoffs he'll be facing some good teams in do or die games. He's never been a good do or die QB his elimination game record backs that up.

If he's put in a situation where he has to "wing it" he'll suffer multiple turnovers and we'll be in serious trouble. He doesn't face a pass rush in practice with defenders coming after him trying to take him out. His rhythm and timing won't be on and he could be gun shy in the face of a pass rush. Having to "wing it" will lead to sacks and turnovers. His only chance is being able to lean on the running game and not having to go down the field in a come from behind situation. He's going to have to be put in a position where he can manage the game and the game isn't put on his shoulders. Any defense that faces Romo is going to be tasting blood trying to knock him out of the game.

Not if Romo hasn't taken a live game snap in 5 months. Romo can turn the ball over and play just as poorly as Sanchez when he's not sharp. The last time Romo played a regular season game it was as bad as any Sanchez has ever played. I can point to 8 INT's Romo's had that can be directly contributed to rust since 2014. The worst game he played all season in 2014 was in the opener vs SF and it was due to not having a normal offseason recovering from back surgery. The team was very cautious with him during the spring and summer, holding him out of practices and not allowing him to play much in preseason. He spent most of his time rehabbing and wasn't game sharp. He clearly wasn't sharp on opening day tossing 3 INT's vs SF finishing with a 60.8 passer rating. He was much sharper the following week and kept improving each week as his timing and rhythm came back.

We all saw what happened after he missed 7 games last season he wasn't sharp and it led to 5 INT's in the two games he played before being injured again. He's never come close to missing as much time as he has the past two seasons. He's only played two full games since the 2014 season. He hasn't faced a regular season pass rush since the Carolina game last season. Against Seattle in preseason this past August, it was obvious then he wasn't moving very well. Dak would have run away from the sack that injured Romo. He's bound to have slowed down even more since his latest back injury. The speed of the game especially playoff game speed is going to be too much for him. It's going to be a lot different than facing a preseason game pass rush.

Everyone was working off rust back in August and right now Romo is more rusted than Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. If Sanchez looks pretty good on Sunday, it wouldn't shock me if he's the backup QB the Cowboys suit up in the playoffs. Not anticipating they will but you never know because he's going to be the most prepared to play and if he looks good on Sunday the team may have a decision to make. The team knows Romo's history returning from layoffs and they're laced with turnovers. If they go with two QBs for the playoffs and Dak goes down, Beasley may end up the QB because Romo may not last a series or two. It's obvious the Cowboys have a lot of concerns about Romo's health, not wanting to give him any snaps on Sunday and it will be a risky move to only have him backing up Dak in the playoffs. He's so brittle they may have to suit up Sanchez just in case. Romo hasn't taken a hit in 5 months.

Well as we see now, Romo is going to play, how much is unknown.
Seems Dak will start to get credit for the start, then I am guessing tony, then Sanchez.
It would be good if tony throws the pass that lets witten get the yardage record.

And it will be interesting to see how tony plays. Sanchez too.

It's the right move Romo needs to play some. If he doesn't look good and Sanchez looks better who knows what the team might decide. We need to find out where his game is and if he can take a hit.

I agree, but I think he may do good, he will be trying harder than ever before.

When Romo tries too hard bad things usually happen. He just needs to manage the situation and take what the defense gives him and not try to force anything.

Maybe we can get a tie and still break the franchise record for best record with 13-2-1. With Wentz and Sanchez 0-0 is not out of the question without a pick 6.

Mixed feelings about Romo not getting any snaps. The last image I'll have of him as a Cowboy will be the Seattle injury snap.

At the same time, Philly would murder him with the injuries we have.
My last image would be him whiffing Watt and throwing. 40 yd. touchdown, perfectly placed in the back of the end zone.

Plays like that......
