They're so confident in Prescott that they won't give the young "great" QB the contract he wants. Yet, they gave an aging and injury prone Romo a contract.

This says a lot more than any of the babble that comes out of Jerry and Stephen. They aren't confident in what they have in Prescott.

maybe they learned their lesson?

But but but all last season we kept hearing how Dak is going to get paid and the everyone who doesnt like it can eat crow.
This is hilarious! I hope he gets the franchise tag.
Even if he get franchised he's getting PAID. You know how much that tag is worth?

Let him go disappear for quarters at a time for another team.

Yeah u say that til we end up with another Quincy Carter, Drew Henson, Drew Bledsoe, Vinny Testaverde, Chad Hutchinson, Jon Kitna or Matt Cassel again.

QB's don't grow on tree's. We were very fortune to go from Romo To Dak. Dak came in and aint miss a beat. And this past season was Dak Prescott's best season.
Dak > Wentz.

Did you read the article? They didn't let him walk he LEFT them. By the time they got done franchise tagging him the price was too much for them to afford.
Yes, I did read the article. They let him leave. EXACTLY!

When does a team let a franchise quarterback leave? They didn't CARE that he left. And they weren't going to pay him like a franchise quarterback.
THAT'S BEEN MY WHOLE POINT!!!!
Teams don't let franchise quarterbacks just walk away. They either pay them, or they trade them for a boatload of picks.

Anyway, I've said what I've said. If you don't agree, fine.

If this is the route, we better not let him sit out all training camp and then cave to his every demand like we did with Zeke

Get Tua in he draft (Jerry has history of taking chance on injured players) and let him sit for the year, then let Dak go and hand Tua the keys

i just wish the cowboys had front office management capable of running a real nfl football team consistently
The Cowboys have one of the better rosters in the league.

It's coaching that has held them back and they addressed that problem already this off season.

Yep and not to mention he will make loads off the endorsements that the starting QB for The Dallas Cowboys gets. I think he has made more off that them his football check. Guessing but I figure we are offering a little more than goff made. If he and his agent are expecting more then I tag him. If he holds out then he holds out.

Force his hand before the draft. If he wants pull that hold out crap, draft a QB and/or grab a FA!

Dak couldnt even carry the team to the playoffs. He doesnt make anyone on offense better. We missed the playoffs in his best year. Why overpay for a QB that cant carry the team.

Because its Dak that's why!!!

Dak or bust Cowboy nation!!!

He's not going to holdout when he'll be getting close to 30 million. However, people are insane if they think we can tag him twice and he'll wait until he's 28 for his second contract in the league.
He made 50 million last year from endorsements. Go play for the Bungles, Dak. Youll have about 3 million in endorsements.

This is dumb. Either sign him to a long-term deal or let him go. At this point, we know what we've got with him. **** or get off the pot.
so you think they should just sign him for whatever amount DAK wants????? cmon, get a clue.

We don't have a better QB behind Prescott because we haven't valued the backup QB position for quite some time.

You don't do this with a franchise QB, you take that hit. The most logical thing here is that Dak is waiting for the Mahomes contract, which will probably be an historic QB contract. We'll franchise Dak and continue contract talks from there.
like Mahomes, who is clearly the best QB in football today has any relevance on Daks deal.

They were in denial about their offensive coaching though and even though they hired McCarthy they are making Kellen Moore the playcaller which makes no sense.

I hope I’m wrong but I think the changes to the offense will be minimal.

If this is the plan- I'm looking @ QB's in the 2nd Round and planning to start the selection Wk. 1.

I like Dak alit, but not at 35M+ annually.

'Other teams interested'? Sure. 'Other teams' offering the money he wants? Not so sure. 'Other teams' with the same high profile? No. 'Other teams' with the same off-field and financial perks? Absolutely not. 'Other teams' with the running backs, receivers, and offensive line that this one has? None.

So he should just be careful in what he wishes for, or demands. He has it pretty good here too.
the absolute most important thing you mentioned was what he makes off the field. ........ 50 MILLION LAST YEAR. Let him go play for any of the teams that might pay him and watch that off field money drop by at least 75%. Make no mistake, the ONLY reason Dak has big off field endorsements is because of who he plays for, not who he is.

It would be interesting to see how Dak does elsewhere while the Cowboys front office looks for the next Paxton Lynch.

Jerry might even pull off the trade this time.
funny how you blast the Cowboys for wanting Lynch. Do you remember why we dont have Lynch?

The trend in this league right now is overapaying for mediocre QBs and shattering the market to pay for elite QBs. There are a few things at play here 1. Prescott and his agent seeing what goes down with Mahomes 2. Jerry/Stephen don't view Dak as highly as they say they do, or overpaying wouldn't be as big of a deal 3. Length of contract

This isn't a WR or RB situation, it's a franchise QB situation. You already have that QB saying how disappointed he is a contract hasn't been done. At the very least, Dak isn't happy and he's about to get slapped with a franchise tag (most likely). Whether we do or don't sign him we'll see, but this tells me that Jerry and Stephen know Dak is more average than he is near the top.
Some salient points to be sure. But I think the only snafu is money.
