You are very confident in and felt TE was set with Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot?

Obviously they drafted Schoonmaker in the 2nd with the hope that he would develop into TE1 quite quickly.

Jake Ferguson is a good dude, but having him as the Cowboys #1 TE did not make anyone feel that TE was not a "need" in the draft.
Not accurate. Many people believed TE was not a need.

I'm fine w/ Fergie/Hender, yes.

I've known Luke since he was in high school at Memorial in Madison. No one ever called him "Fergie" there or during his 4 years at Wisconsin. Do Cowboys players call him "Fergie" or is this something you came up with? Just curious.

Taco Charlton was pretty stank. Golston was(is) putrid.
Ha! I almost started the reply with “except for Taco….” ;)

I seem to remember Bobby Carpenter as another one having some early Bust cologne on.

Parcells spent more time defending his progress than anything else.

Did anyone ever call Jake, Luke? :muttley:
Sorry, I've had Luke Musgrave on my mind while in this thread about Schoonmaker. Good catch though, I like it.;)

I'm looking forward to tracking the seasons of Musgrave, Kraft, and Schoonmaker. Someone here told me the Cowboys are far superior at drafting than the Packers. Makes one wonder why the Cowboys have lost 9 of the last 10 games against the Pack?

I think Schoonmaker could be good, but I would have pause with him being prone to foot issues.

Because you had the better quarterback. Which won't be the case anymore.

So, Aaron Charles Rodgers single handedly beat the Cowboys in all those games? Wow, I've seen Aaron play his whole career and he never won one game all by himself. The last win against the Cowboys, the Packers rushed for over 200 yards. I can assure you that Aaron Rodgers didn't rush or block for all those yards.

Come on, man. Brady and Montana and Mahomes didn't (don't) rush or block, either.

Good luck going from an all-time great to Jordan Love. Maybe since he won't be rushing or blocking it won't matter than much.

Same thing people said in 2008 when the Pack shipped Favre to the Jets: "Good luck going from an all-time great to Aaron Rodgers, who will never amount to anything."

You should pray real hard that J-Love has a horrible career, cause I think your head may explode with any other outcome.

Stay tuned....I know you will.;)

Or they want to use 2 TE sets like they did last year.

I'm sure they will, but that doesn't mean they were/are not hoping that Schoonmaker will develop into TE1 fairly quickly.

Someone was claiming that TE was not at all a "need" for the Cowboys going into the draft. Myself and many others don't think Ferguson and Hendershot made the Cowboys believe they were set at TE.

No he's not. But he's also not the first player to have it and have it limited him for a long period of time.

Again, I have no idea what his prognosis is. But to me, he seems like a risk we took, again, in the 2nd round because we were drafting for need there.
I have plantar fascia right now and I can tell you that you have to almost completely stay off of it. Cant run much or do anything. You can easily restrain it. Did that several times just trying to hit the ball back with my wife playing tennis.

Its been two months and you really have to just stay off of it completely and wear and special soul to walk around. I suspect that Shoonmaker tore is worse. Hard to know when its completely healed.

He is pretty much screwed for this year. Missing all of the offseason and all of TC. Then he has to get into game shape after and get in reps in practice. I suspect we wont see him playing for a while. TE is a very complicated position. Maybe he can do a few things the 2nd half of the year, but any chances of him wrestling the starting job are not looking good.

Had a big need for an all around good blocking and pass catching TE. Especially since they want to play a lot of the 2 TE formation. I suspect they will be going away from that more now and doing the 11 formation as the staple.

Carp didn't stink when he was drafted. He seemed to never get back to form after injury. You could smell Taco's mole the minute you put the college tape on.

I remember him taking on blocks that first preseason and he was getting dominated by second stringers. The injury had nothing to do with his softness.

His name is Jake. All players I know of that have the last name of Feruson are called Fergie.

We use nicknames on this site all the time to save typing. I have no idea whatsoever if I was the first one that called him that. Really don't understand the relevance.

Carp completely lacked the instincts to play NFL football.

Taco was/is just a big dumb kid. Too dumb to play football.

Doesn't matter.
Well, of course, none of our opinions matter. However, it is enjoyable to exchange opinions, find out why a poster believes the way they do, stuff like that. Don't know why anyone would even be on this site if it's not fun for them to discuss.

He looks like he is feeling pretty good now.
