Schottenheimer likes his guys in free agency

Here's the deal with Schottenheimer.

He knows he's hit lifes lottery in getting this job.

He knows there will be no quality free agents coming

He knows the company line here and how to articulate it.

He's about to make the most money he's ever made before and as the old saying goes " if forced copulation is inevitable, it's best to just lay back and enjoy it"

I personally don't prescribe to that biblical verse but I'm not about to contradict Confucius on a football forum
He's also knows that Garrett milked the HC position for 10 years so why not join that club

They have a belief that players should accept less to be here ,just to be a cowboy, rather than getting a max deal. Bryan Broaddus and many others over the years have stated they have a belief in the front office, never to set the market value of a player by overpaying. That's why I just can't see Micah getting a new deal here. The Joneses have a belief ,and we have a cap. If he's here, it won't be long.
And yet they massively overpaid for Dak twice after dragging their feet for years. They also paid Diggs and Lamb market value before that. They say a lot of things and do something else just as often.

Parsons valuation is easy. It is far less than the franchise tag for a couple years after this upcoming fifth year option he will be playing this upcoming season.

Parsons is also not like a QB who can reasonably expect to play for 10 more years after his first contract. If he plays the franchise tag game to get to free agency he will be 28 when he is out of it. That point would likely be his only opportunity for a lucrative multiyear deal after which puts him on the far side of 30 and at year to year for serious money.

The alternative is sign a lucrative extension before getting franchised so he can sign another when it is over.

Absolutely sickening answer.

Memo: 29/32 teams are focusing maniacally on resigning their own free agents. The other 3 are so cap-strapped they can't afford to do so.

Guess what? There's gonna be virtually no stars on the market for any team to sign!

Tons to criticize the Cowboys on, but the clown train on this forum regarding external free agency never loses speed...or acquires any wisdom.

Yes that is. He mentioned liking “our guys” which is a red flag for being a well trained Jerry/Stephen Jones lackey. He also said our guys have a culture about them that we want to hang on to. Speaking of a team that has culture problems, wanting to keep our guys to maintain that culture is scary. Very discouraging answer. I’m hoping he was just answering the questions as benign as possible as to not tip our hand to other teams. But if he meant what he said that’s pretty discouraging.

What they bring to the table from a culture standpoint?

Truer words have never been spoken by a 25 year assistant.

Great facts. Folks act like we are the only club that hones on on signing our own exclusively before kicking the tired in free agency. All teams do it. Problem is, we are timid about outside free agents. Thus, "selectively aggressive". Lol

Like they say this franchise has a winning culture lol

Totally finite view of recruitment. Absolutely no sense of imagination or vision beyond ‘let’s keep hold of our guys’. It’s as though he’s never heard of regeneration or refreshment. Fear-based decision making.
