I don't know how successful Shott will be, but his introduction as HC went pretty well.
He displayed some sense of authority and didn't seem a Deer in the Headlights person who knew he wasn't up for the job.
He didn't seem to be wearing Rose colored glasses and just a puppet for Jerry who was more cheerleader than coach.
The players, at least the Offense, seem to support the hire displayed by their presence at the Press conference.
I'm more worried about the resources player wise available to him being his biggest hindrance than of his coaching ability.

He wasn't as strong a communicator as I expected. Seemed a little too grateful and kind of shocked he got the job. Also he isn't mean enough.
In fairness, Stephen and Jerry were very shell shocked and uncomfortable given all the criticism they are receiving. That didn't set him up well.
BTW - Stephen being not very smart is killing the organization.

Perfect candidate for the Cowboys for two reasons.

1) Willing to try and make a top level NFL QB out of Dak Prescott. (Good luck there)

2) A young inexperienced guy that Jerry Jones can easily dictate stuff to.

Yeah I agree. I came away pretty underwhelmed, but had high expectations of him as a communicator. Seemed like a lot of generic media answers, but I'm not sure I came away from the PC with any additional information we didnt already know or any new reason to be optimistic.

He reminded me of Mr. Rogers. Not sure if that's good or bad regarding a football coach.

I am hoping like heck when Jerry goes they sell the team. Or at least hire someone to be the GM at the very least.

Jane Thinks So..

Those don't seem like things anyone with half a brain would need notes for, but okay. (Unless she's referring to not consulting her own notes taken during the presser?)

In any case, we're basically in the position of having to hope that Jerry - not known for his acumen in selecting coaches, and well known for his contempt for coaches - saw something in BS that nobody else in the NFL saw over the course of his numerous coaching stops.

See it how you wish….but the answer to the question “why Schottenheimer?”

Because he provides the best chance for right now to remain relevant and not have to try to sell a 3-4 win team, since Dak doesn’t have to learn a new offense.

Oh and he apparently is working for less than several coordinators in the league. That too.

I don't think he came off very well. He was much better and more confident in his weekly coordinator PCs. Frankly, he seemed kind of weak today.

Hopefully it was just first-day nerves. I just hope this stage isn't too big for him.
