While this is likely to happen, I do find it strange that only radio guys have been “reporting” this and all of the actual beat writers haven’t said a peep.

Radio guys know nothing. They're filling time. Booby Belt isn't an insider as he is advertised. But they do talk to folks way down the food chain and hear stuff. The "writers" do Jerrys bidding for him or risk losing press credentials and access. So until he tells them to release the hounds, they won't say anything. Jerry has everyone at DFW in lockstep.

The only reason Jerry would hire someone like Schottenheimer is because he has no real options and hiring a random guy to coach in 2025 would likely be possible with a 2-3 year contract and an easy person to fire after only one season if someone he wants becomes available and/or is willing to take the job in 2026.

If Jerry wants to waste another year of his remaining life closing his eyes and throwing a dart hoping to land anywhere near the dart board, then by all means.

I don’t think there’s anyway Schottenheimer would agree to a 1 year deal. And I also think Jerry is way too cheap to fire a coach after 1 season and pay 2 HC’s for multiple years.

Schottenheimer would be a minimum 2 year coach

Jerry always thinks he's the smartest person in the room. He's gonna try to make Witten his new pet project. Hope I don't end up hating him. I wonder if Moore turned him down with that condition in place?He's in a good organization and if he wins a sb he'll have a chance to go someplace where he has a chance to win

He sees Campbell and thinks Witten can be that guy. They both played TE, thats where the similarities end. Dan is a personable, likable guy. Witten was a total tool to his teammates.

I'm guessing Jerry is having buyers remorse on giving that deal to Dak...so this hire has to be someone who Dak is familiar with.

They know they are stuck for next 3-4 years with a bad hand (due to their own stupidity).

Let Schotty take the fall during these next horrible seasons and make one final push after you can get rid of Dak before Jerry leaves this world.
