Schultz? Does he even have market?

I would put Schultz and Hayden Hurst in roughly the same tier of TE. If Schultz would sign for say, 3-years/$22-24M I’d be fine bringing him back.

One less need in the draft…
Be rest assured Hayden Hurst is a better athlete at almost 30 than Dalton Schultz

Last year hurt his stock. And our comp pick for him.
It was just a big loser to keep him last year.
Since we had no proven TE on the roster, don't see how.

Franchising him while we got our other TE's up to speed was the smart thing to do.

Hurst > Schultz I'd have taken him in a second for 7- 8 M
You guys are nuts w/ the Schultz hate!!!!! They're the same player, except Schultz is a much better receiver. Hurst is known to be a poor run blocker.

Schultz is excellent as a receiver, but not much as a blocker. Nevertheless, some team will pay him generously to collect passes, you betcha!
Is that one of those things that someone said, and then people just started repeating it until they believed it?

Spotrac. And before you saying anything, so far, at least with the players I've kept track of, they've all been paid at least that or more. Gallup pretty much got almost exactly what they posted his market value to be.
Appreciate the info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This one will be interesting then, to see if they got this one right.

I think Ferguson and Hendershot showed some potential at times to be good tight ends. But if we can't get Schultz back we may need to find a veteran TE in the market. Not sure who else is out there though.
Ferguson is a better blocker and more athletic I think. I have no problem addressing the position in the draft but I would not spend money on it for a vet.

I don't think so. If you saw a blown up running play in the backfield last year there was a good chance Shultz was involved!

Exactly where do the Schultz detractors get that he can't block? I looked it up anywhere I could find it. Hard to find blocking grades for TEs, BTW.

Schultz is a +blocker. Which means he is a good blocker. That's what I thought.

How are you guys getting this so wrong? What, did you see one missed block and graded his entire run blocking on one play?

Serious question, as there are so many misconceptions being passed around about him.

Schultz has the ability to block. He just won’t block much at times. I’m not defending him, just being real. And I’m ready to see him go.

Schultz used to be a laughable blocker- terrible. He’s improved for sure but still not great at all. Regardless of that I’m fine moving on

In todays NFL it seems like good run blocking from the TE spot is a lost art from a #1 TE.
You can find some tight ends that can be good blockers, but that's all they can do. It's rare to have that TE that can do both well.

I think some just harp on a few bad snaps and never let go.

Market isn't there because no one other than Dak is going to force feed Shultz like he did these past couple of seasons. Those target attempts usually goes to the WRs

At no point in time has Hurst put up more yards or TDS than Schultz.
I’m just saying he’s a better athlete not that he’s had a great career. He’s also been a backup for most of his career for better or worse. If I’m being honest he hasn’t had a ton of great opportunity but he definitely has had a couple like last year
