Schultz to command top TE money

He has a much better short and intermediate game than Jarwin.

Jarwin is better vertical.
I don’t think it’s as much of a difference that we make it out to be; Schultz disappears when the offense doesn’t look well just as easy. Neither block at the level you would expect of a TE

Schultz is a role player and this teams 5th or 6th option.

He only gets the ball when the defense leaves him as an afterthought.

This comment would be better suited for someone like Amari Cooper than Schultz.

Not great after the catch? Are you on drugs? Schu is a beast after the catch.

strong after the catch yes. great after the catch is what Kelce did to end the game against the Chargers.

He currently ranks 8th is receiving yards by a TE with 584 and is only 59 yards behind the #5 ranked TE, which would place him behind only Andrews, Kelce, Pitts, and Kittle......so depending on how he finishes do not be surprised if a team offers him Top 5 money and he bolts the Cowboys.
Yep we can't afford to keep him. One of many useful players forced to leave due to overpaying elsewhere

For some reason Dak hasn't been throwing to Shultz lately, and #86 has been open. Shultz is a good route runner/security blanket. Dude was a good blocker until he started catching TDs. I like the player, but Dallas can't pay him that market value. I also would release Jarwin because he's too injury prone to pay.

It's time to redo the TE room.

Well, if we’re speaking hypothetically..

I’d let Gallup, Jarwin, and Schultz walk and add Gesicki. Having CeeDee, Cooper, and Gesicki on the same team would be.. Sicki (excuse the pun)

Gallup and Schultz would net us a couple of Compensatory picks. Flip Jarwin and his contract for 6th or 7th.. Use the saved salaries to add Gesicki. We’d still have some depth at WR (Turner, Fehoko, Draft?/low cost Vet..and don’t forget ab TC sensations TJ Vasher and Osiris Mitchell) and TE (McKeon, Bunting, Draft?/low cost blocking TE).

Sorry if I sound like a fan boy, but Gesicki IS THAT GOOD. If you haven’t been following the Dolphins (and I wouldn’t blame ya).. I’ve attached a highlight from last year alone. Just watch and envision him on the Cowboys making these types of plays

Side note: my only question is.. what to do with #88.. Lamb and Gesicki both wear it. Obviously, lamb would keep the number bc it’s historically a Dal WR#, but Lamb wanted to wear his college# anyway, so…

Of course it remains to be seen but fodder to discuss.

“According to CBS Sports’ Joel Corry, expect Schultz to earn a new contract similar to that of the New England Patriots‘ Hunter Henry. Henry signed his deal during the 2021 offseason and earned himself a three-year, $37.5 million deal and $25 million guaranteed.

Corry projects Schultz to earn a deal with a $12.5 million average, $25 million in guarantees across three years. That sort of contract would place Schultz in the top five among highest-paid players at his position in terms of annual value.“

Offer him a contract that’s slightly larger than the one Jarwin has and move on if he doesn’t want it. He’s a product of the other players on the team, nothing more!!!

He really disappeared once teams caught on to him, so while it’s possible, I doubt it

He disappeared once teams caught on to him? He’s only 10 catches and 31 yards behind his total from last season. He has the same number of TDs he had last season. His yards per catch average is up from last season. His longest reception last year was 28 yards this year it’s 32 yards. Barring injury he will end up with a better season in every statistical category than last season.

I like your plan, but Mike G. may cost too much as he will have some competing bidders...he would go off in Dallas tho.

the real question is how many players have to leave because of money, because of the greedy qb. you know, "the guy who has to have a perfect team around him to look presentable"

Let him go. Spend the money on D. We pay our qb 40 million. Let him do with less.

Take your “ top $ “ and give it to Michael Gallup who is a target down field for our 140 million dollar man to throw to and give me Mckeon & Eubanks next year at TE . Say goodbye often injured Jarwin as well .

Your right, but it was hypothetical and won’t happen

Although.. there’s some in this post that want us to sign Schultz. Jarwin is due $7min next year and if the OP’s tweet is right, Schultz is going to demand $10mil+ (this alone is why Schultz won’t be signed, I digress)

Kittle is the current top Salaried TE at $15mil?! If Dallas got wild like the Rams are with their roster.. I could see a route to make it happen. But our FO falls in love with players (Cowboy fans do also for that matter) and aren’t as creative with roster turnover.

Dallas Goedert is the second highest paid tight end in the league making just over 14 million per season. Dalton Schultz has 12 more catches this season and only 12 fewer yards than Goedert. Plus Schultz has the same number of TDs this season as Goedert. Schultz will have a pretty good argument to be paid Goedert money. Goedert never had more than 58 catches for 607 yards entering this season.

You don’t have a flipping clue if you think the team around him is perfect. Do you honest think the OL is perfect? He was having an MVP season until the OL started struggling. We can’t run the ball and his pass protection has been suspect at times. We’ve had no continuity upfront for more than half the season with Tyron battling injuries and the inconsistent play of both Connor Williams and Connor McGovern. The defense has been far from perfect. It’s starting to come around now that we have players back but the defense had some poor games this season against Denver and Vegas.

Shultz is the Jeff Heath of TE's.

Good enough to stick around but not good enough to keep you from looking for an upgrade.
Bad analogy in my opinion.

Heath got more heat from his play vs., Dutch.

oh yeah all the other teams in the NFL have perfect offensive lines, except poor ole shell shock dak.
I guess what jimmy johnson continues to say is true. he has to have everything perfect for him to perform.

"alex let me buy a vowel"

Ironically, I can see the Chargers signing Schultz.

I don’t think some of you know how bad NFL TE’s are.

You might be able to find something in FA but anything in the draft is going to take multiple years to develop.
Exactly, most don’t even know he’s a top 8 guy statistically and that’s with him slowing down the last few weeks. There’s a lack of high end TE play and good but not great players like Shultz will capitalize off of it.
