Schultz to command top TE money

Pass he is okay but there are way better athletic TE out their.

I like it good TEs are hard to find. I’d still draft another TE and RB.

He really disappeared once teams caught on to him, so while it’s possible, I doubt it

The Cowboys should let him move if he gets any significant offers.

Kellen Moore has schemed Schultz open and the attention defenses give to the other receiving threats gives Schultz opportunities.

Schultz struggles to create separation on his own.

Witten could get open on his own even when defenses knew he was the likely target.

When Jarwin had success he did it by getting open with speed.

Schultz has neither of those qualities.

Shultz is a better blocker than Jarwin but we've seen that Schultz has limitations as a blocker.
- He struggles with open field blocks.

McKeon can fill the Schultz role. McKeon just needs to stay healthy.
- He appears to be as good of a blocker as Schultz.
- McKeon has had a couple of impressive catches and a TD despite only being targeted 6 times this season.

Originally I thought that Jarwin was not doing much when he played this season; however..
- After reviewing games from early in the season, I changed my mind on Jarwin's impact.

Jarwin
5 of 10 catches resulted in 1st downs.
2 of 10 catches resulted in TDs.
Even more significant is how Kellen Moore used Jarwin to get more space for other receivers.
Jarwin was running many clear out routes because his speed challenged LBs.
Jarwin got more attention from Safeties than Schultz does.
Defenses are not concerned if Schultz gets isolated on a LB.

Unfortunately Jarwin will never be a good blocker but he definitely has value as a receiver.
- Even if he does not have big stats, he impacts coverage which helps other receivers.

Ultimately the Cowboys could really benefit better overall TE.
- Even if that player is about equivalent to Jarwin as a receiver, if he is a quality blocker than that would be a big step up from either Jarwin or Schultz.

oh yeah all the other teams in the NFL have perfect offensive lines, except poor ole shell shock dak.
I guess what jimmy johnson continues to say is true. he has to have everything perfect for him to perform.

"alex let me buy a vowel"

Name me one QB that’s having a great season that’s playing behind a struggling OL? Look at the problems Mahomes has had this season. He’s had a bunch of turnovers and most of his struggles has been due to his OL. He played a terrible Super Bowl because of his OL. Jimmy never said everything around Dak has to be perfect. You’re twisting what he said because you don’t like Dak. We get it! Jimmy said he needs real good players around him and he went on to say all QBs need real good players around them to perform except for Aaron Rodgers. If you want to come off like a Dak hater rather than an intelligent football fan that’s up to you.

Of course, Gregory is at the top of the list but after him, you prioritize Shultz or CW IMO. Which is easier to replace with 2nd or 3rd round pick or cheaper to resign.
My concern with Gregory is that he will turn 30 during the 2022 season.
- That's fine for 2022 but it's a concern on a long-term contract.
- Maybe his lack to wear and tear from only playing 46 of a possible 109 regular season games up to this point helps him play into his thirties but that's a gamble.
- If they give Gregory a significant contract, then they're probably not planning to keep DLaw after 2022.

jimmy basically said he sucks unless he has a perfect team around him. I could care more if you think I'm a dak "hater' but I don't your opinion means nothing to me.
i put my trust in jimmy, dak sucks.

Nope. Like the player but don't think he's worth big money. Rather replace him in the draft.

I don’t think some of you know how bad NFL TE’s are.

You might be able to find something in FA but anything in the draft is going to take multiple years to develop.
It appears that people are unable to comprehend how tough it is to get open at an NFL level.

You’re full of it! Jimmy’s had nothing but praise for Dak. You’re the one who thinks he sucks. It’s pretty obvious you don’t want anyone taking you seriously. It’s easy to separate the knowledgeable, intelligent fans from the one’s blinded by their hate for Dak.

I like him and call him baby Witten, but honestly feel like we could draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round and get similar results if he wants crazy money. Way more priorities IMO
Agree. Let him go and get another one. Tired of this team giving top money to guys only to watch them totally suck and blow at the same time.

@Captain-Crash Crash

  • The Cowboys are:
    • 3rd in points scored
    • 3rd in passing yards
    • 5th in passing 1st downs
They've only had 1 game with all 5 intended starters playing the complete game.

I'd pass if it was that kind of money.
He is not that guy

fwiw, those mentioning recent woes may be right, but we could say that about the whole offense.

number one offensive line, with the weakest link quarterback who's scared of shadows. jimmy knows he sucks. it's the slow learners who don't see it. oh well, carry along.

They claim the Cowboys have the number one OL when everyone is healthy. The first seven games of the season the OL was great and Dak was having an MVP season but the last 6 games it’s been a struggle. Colin’s hasn’t played well all season. Tyler Biadase has had his problems. We’ve been rotating Connor Williams and Connor McGovern because neither have been real good. Tyron Smith hasn’t looked particularly good in any of the games he’s played since his injuries. Steele has struggled playing LT. If you want to keep reading lunacy into Jimmy Johnson’s comments about Dak go ahead and continue making yoursself look silly. It’s a waste of time talking football with a Dak hater.

jimmy johnson, "dak sucks and need a perfect team around him"

sounds like he's calling him Trent Dilfer without the talent and has to have a better team than Trent did.
