SDogo do you know what their interest level is in Zeitler and Brandon Brooks at this point?

Thanks for the update.

Sean Baker first guy i thought of was Justin Beriault hey same school.

Beriault had the makings of a solid ball player could he have had stayed healthy.

Sdogo, what are you hearing about this guy:
http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232149
I am trying to clarify his speed, but can't find it anywhere. To me, when you watch this kid, if you blink you miss him with the return or interception. Just that fast and quick. Kinda small granted, but just stands out to me big time from a super small school. What do you think?

Under the Radar: Ricky Carlson, S/KR, Webber International

by Damond Talbot on Mar 16, 2012 12:55 PM EDT in 2012 NFL Draft

Ricky Carlson, is a little guy from Inverness, Florida, where he he has been an amazing as a kick/punt returner over his career. He is not the biggest kid in the world, standing at just 5'10 and weighs in at 180 pounds. Ricky has been known for his great punt returns and big plays on defense. Ricky coming out of Citrus High School in Florida was never really highly recruited but as a returner he could earn his way on an NFL Roster, check out the clip.

Granted, I havent found a close up video to really watch the returns or interceptions, but just catches my eye, explosive quickness to me, and boom he is gone and if you blink, he is gone, bye bye to the endzone.

Watch him when defender has angle on him, and boom, still gets 5-8 yards due to his quckness, but defender forces him out of bounds due to sideline.

I asked Hos what he tought about him, but havent gotten a reply yet.Kinda reminds me of a ed reed type player in coverage with his range, quickness, jumping ability and speed

Are my eyes deceiving me, or am I actually seeing a very under rated returner and safety that maybe no one knows about?

Also ADogo, Whitney isn't he suppose to fall in the 17th to 22nd range? Isn't that too high for him? I worry about this kid because at college only had one great year, was that due to him knowing he was going to be drafted and to get big bucks? Some guys can't handle that and once they get the big money and revert to their old ways of not working hard.

Joe, don't know much about Ricky Carlson but I'll see if I can get anything for you. As far as Whitney, you can take any legitimate pass rusher in the 1st round and knock them up 3 or 4 slots, it's supply and demand and the supply of pass rushers in this draft is thin. I also really do think Dallas will trade down.

I have not heard anything about adding a WR early but I do know at some point in this offseason you can expect a more high profile name via draft or FA brought in to compete. Doucette is a good name and a possibility although Dallas has given no hint of being interested but like I said, I have not been given any names recently in regards to free agency.

What do you think about Ted Ginn as a #3? He could give us something in the passing game and be a weapon in the return game.

Thanks for the update.

If it's not too much trouble, could you provide a list of say 3-4 guys the team seems interested in for the first four selections?

Also, any rumblings on QBs we might be interested in drafting (or McGee's future)?

Thank you again.

Mark Anderson the late bloomer had 12 sacks his rookie year and 17 combined in his first 2 years.

Then went on to produce 8 the next 5 years.

When I look at Connor I see no sacks, picks, FF's. That's pretty hard to do from ILB spot, but even Bradie had his share of sacks and FF's.

Not when you consider how Connor was used. He did not start a single game till 2010, only played in 19 the 1st two seasons, only played 120 downs the first two season and a majority of which were on 1st and 2nd down. He does have a sack on record in 2010 in which he started the first 8 games before being injured. He started 11 games in 2011 and had a forced fumble so your numbers are not exactly right. Given all that, no they are no eye popping but the Panthers defense rarely dialed up ILB blitz packages. Part of his problem in Carolina was that it was not till he was forced into the lineup last year and utilized that they realized his potential

As bad as our D is, if this club has any clue they target G and C hard in this draft early. If not start day one giving Orton at least 50% of the snaps to get him ready cuz our interior OL is still garbage if not worse off than last year so far. We sign castoffs from the Bengals and Panthers and cut our best interior OL. I know Kosier is old but these 2 guys are no major upgrade.

There is no guarantee any rookie will be either. Livings as much as I don't like the signing actually graded out higher then any of our interior lineman in the passing game so it's hard not to say that's not an upgrade. Matter of fact only giving up 2 sacks over the last 2 seasons would be an upgrade for any of our interior lineman we ended the season with.

No safeties huh.......:tantrum: :insane:  ;)

I'm not even talking about a high pick either, they do need to address the situation at safety though instead of bringing all these guys that are worse than JAGs.

Your preaching to the wrong guy brother. I would be SHOCKED if we have a safety on the opening day roster outside of what we have now and if so, it would be nothing more then a roster churning move with Church or Silva.

I'm a little surprised with your choice at 14 sdogo, I would have expected maybe Cox there if DeCastro is gone.

I think Cox is a distant 4th right now. Honestly Brockers/Whitney/Upshaw are the name I'm hearing most likely as far as pass rushers.

Well,is Bernadeau or Konz going to play center?

This moment it's Bernadeau, if they can address it via draft then that person will get the chance to win the spot as I reflected in my mock.

They have expressed a lot of interest in both players. Either could be viable targets.

I'm sorry, but I cannot get behind Mercilus in the 1st. DeCastro, Poe, Cox, Glenn, Brockers would all be fine with me. (Kuechly was on my short list, but I think Connor kills that pick). I just don't think WM's best bet is playing WOLB, but that is Ware's position. I simply do not see a great pass rusher in the 1st, so I feel like we have to use one or both of our first 2 picks in the trenches.

With two additions in FA that scenario is very highly unlikely. I'll be happy with one.

So disappointed to see Broyles and not Devon Wylie in your Mock. I like Broyles well enough, but I'd much rather get Wylie. I think he fits perfectly with what we need.

Disappointing to have to remove him, I'm very high on Wylie, the Cowboys have expressed none to this point but seem to have taken a great liking to Broyles.

As for your roster, I like the look of it for the most part. Love that there is no Alan Ball(!!!!). But one question: why keep McGee? With Kyle Orton on the squad, I think we are likely to drop McGee and start the development game over.

Orton is only 28 and signed for the next 5 years. That alone takes the idea of developing a QB and pushes it back at least 2 years. If Kitna was on the roster I would agree, with Orton the panic is not there. You keep McGee around because he knows the system although I will say, Greisen is someone who we have in house that I'm hearing has a chance to push McGee.

Looked up Rhet Ellison and that guy has some quick feet.

He's surprisingly athletic and has a football pedigree. He is just one of those guy every team needs.

Another name I like, right now I'm all about killing two bird with one stone and one of those birds in a return specialist.

Not fully understanding your request, do you want what I think is out top 3 or 4 guys at #14 or a list of guys that fit the 3-4 defense for us?

The only QB I have heard associated with Dallas at all is Patrick Witt from Yale. That's not to say they have not done their homework and if someone dropped they would not look at them.
