so, if we win a playoff game next year and Payton doesn't, is older Parcells better than Payton then? It's extremely early to say anything definitive at tjhis point in time.

When will it be appropriate? When Payton w3ins his 5th playoff game? When he wins a Super Bowl? Please clue me in on when it will be appropriate.

In fact all NFC coaches whose teams arent still playing need to be canned right now.

For the Saints to be doing this shows they all suck.

ZZZZ... I have been steadfast in my belief that Parcells has been a major part of the problem and the largest reason why we've been mediocre over the last 4 years. So take that fairweather crap elsewhere.

Try and review some posting history before you make empty claims.

No it's right on point actually. If Payton had lost tonight, you wouldn't be saying a thing about him being better than Parcells right now, just like you'd shut up about it if he loses next weekend, and just like you'd be a homer if we had won last weekend. The best fair weather fans come out at only the opportune times. When things are going well, yall stay don't have these fair weather thoughts.

Like I said a moment ago, and you chose to ignore...the coaching put us in a position to win that game and the players didn't execute. Hang Romo with your profound thought process as equally as you're trying to hang Parcells.

If you don't have a problem with Romo's execution, but DO have a problem with the coaching, than you're obviously a confused fair weather fan also. Once again, the coaching did not cost us the Seattle game. Payton nearly lost the game today on that big Bush fumble. That would've been a collaspe, and this thread wouldn't even exist then. True fair weather characteristics.

After he has consistent success on a yearly basis. It's not that hard to figure out.

I have consistently stated Payton was a very good coach that was being stifled in Dallas under Parcells. Ms. Cleo? That you?

 Right. Meanwhile back at the ranch, we'll go 9-7 again next year, get blasted again, and it'll all be ok because we have a great Hall Of Fame coach running the show.

Wont be so bad cause odds are the Saints will go 7-9 or 8-8 themselves. Not cause of Payton.. just cause.

The Saints are building something and will be consistently good for years to come. Payton is a very smart man.

Who'll take two weeks to decide that's he's coming back in 2008 for a wild 6-10 season after drafting a LB, a TE, a RB, a project kick returner, and an OL in the seventh.

You're taking my words completely out of context. I'm just saying that this is just one season. If Payton averages 6 wins over the next few years then is he still better then Parcells. The history of the NFL is littered with one year wonders. Parcells performance next year (which, contrary to your claims is not definitively set in stone. We may be worse. We may win 12 games.) is irelevent, really if Payton struggles from here on out.

That still doesn't make him better than Parcells, genius. Your entire thought process is based around a single Payton season, and you have no real reasoning for why Parcells is such a bad coach compared to Payton. Our players messed up that game in Seattle. You obviously agree with that cause you keep ignoring it when you respond.

Yeah, I bet. So they say is Gruden even though since his SB 5 years ago they're way under a .500 team.

And they actually *won* the SB.. not to mention 5 of the last 6 losers in that game didnt even make it to .500 the following year.

But Sean's already without question better than all coaches before him.

That's just great. People act as if the NFL is such a deterministic entity that things will invariably go one way because of recent history. That's not how the NFL works, that's not how life works. Bill could go 6-10 next year, he could win 12 games as well. Just stating that we'll be 9-7 againnext year as if it's fact doesn't make it so.

Your entire thought process is based upon what a coach has done years ago. So what makes your argument any better genius.

What has Parcells done in Dallas? I appreciate him helping restore some dignity to the team but mediocrity and almost getting there every year isn't going to cut it. Be calmed by the understanding that nothing you can say will convince me otherwise genius.

Nah. Just the coach that duct taped his mouth while he was coaching in Dallas.

It's actually based upon the consistent resume he has built over the last 4 years in Dallas.

Perhaps, but to say anything definitive on Payton overall is premature at this point. Also, just because we were 9-7 two years in a row doesn't mean we'll do the same again.

Has Parcells won any playoffs games in Dallas 4 years in?

Has Payton won any playoff games in New Orleans? (1 year in)

My premise behind starting this thread was to guage where some of us are with our thought processes right now. I'm saddened by the fact we still think Parcells can get us over the hump. I'm indifferent with him. I couldn't care less whether he stayed or left. I do think his takin all this time to make a decision is freaking lame but whatever he does I appreciate him getting us back to respectability and nothing more.
